Started having buyers remorse before I even installed it, it'll be here tomorrow.
My 8800ultra was seeming to show its age *probably just needs a good cleaning* and Newegg had a pretty decent price on a 280ssc so I jumped on it. (then found out buy.com was selling some at $200, grr)
I heard the GTX280 was beating two 8800gtx's and figured that it made no sense to upgrade to an sli board to get something that'll only run a little faster than the 280. On Ebay, I still see ultra's selling for around $180. Though I think it'd run it, my psu is only rated for two 8800gtx, not ultra's so that was another factor keeping me from sli. $180 (I know I could probably get one for less) for an Ultra and another $200 mobo..
But I paid $650 for my ultra and I keep reading about people using 2nd video cards for physx.
What does a 2nd card for physx do exactly? PSU permitting could I run it for this purpose with minimal power requirements. Would it even be worth it? I've read people sli'ing 200 series cards and using other cards for physx.
I'll likely sell it of course, but just wanting some input or maybe a good link explaining it.
I also bought a 2ms 24" monitor to replace the 6ms 24" so now I'm sitting here with an 8800ultra and 24" monitor I don't need. Could I use the ultra and the 280 on two monitors in the same box to browse while gaming?
Thanks for any input.
