Considering the rumours of the GTX 580 suggested a paper launch at about the same date as the 69xx release, i dont think we'd be seeing any physical 'appearances' till 2011.

I bet they have a few chips they are working on diagnostics with. It takes alot of engineering to come up with that many transistors, and before they mount it on a card PCB they mount it in a test bed to check every circuit int he chip.

That would be called a test handler, I work for a company that makes them, and Nvidia is one of our top clients.
