GTX 650 Vs. GTX 550 Ti

you know i was on an forums when an uses buged me that GTX 550 Ti is better, as i believe that GTX 650 is better then GTX 550 TI.

TPU tests games at max settings

Toms hardware tested that GPU at low settings,

simple a case of reading the graph and review.

1920x1080 high / max settings overall performance avg

Tom's tests at 1080p on low, whereas the other chart is for tests at high / max settings.

So I think they are both correct, but Tom's chart is less of an accurate measurement of pure video card performance, whereas the other chart reflects that more accurately.

So it would seem that the 550ti and the 650 are actually really equal. Which makes a lot of sense given nV's history of inter-generation performance differentials.

i never trusted toms charts. they seem biased to me.

If you're considering purchasing one of these cards, just get the less expensive card. The performance difference between the two aren't worth the argument/conversation.

a 650 is not a re-badge... see

i have the gt640 2GB gigabyte , and a tested the gtx650 on 3dmark11, and 3dmark06 on my system (see system specs... 4GHZ, 88824 8GB 1600 ddr3)

the gigabyte 2GB (1040/900ddr3) on
3dmark06 gets 14291 (www.3dmark.com/3dm06/16841337)
3dmark11 gets P2521 (www.3dmark.com/3dm11/4199555)
the msi power edition (the one reviewed on techpowerup) gtx650 (1124/1250ddr5) on
3dmark06 gets 18470 (www.3dmark.com/3dm06/16888382)
3dmark11 gets p3314 (www.3dmark.com/3dm11/4426373)

the difference is 30% on 3dmark06, and 31% on 3dmark11...
of course the 650 is about 30% more expensive (but i bought the 640 at 105, and have seen the 650 at 115 after rebate... i bought and returned the gtx650 at 130..)

the gt640 seemed "snappier" on the desktop than the gtx650... odd yes.

will be looking at the gtx660... (not the gtx650)
