I'm currently typing this on my phone so bare with me. My 670 FTW came out of the box at 1215 boost clock on the core, all I did was raise the tdp so it would run that all the time. My question is that do you guys think I should pursue trying to OC my card or just run it at what it boosts to now. I tried 1300 MHz on the core in bf3 and it crashed after 3 games. Then I tried 1250 MHz and it ran fine the rest of the night. So do you think I should try to see how much I can get out of my card or just run the default with raised tdp. And also I didn't mess with memory because idk how to check for artifacts or whatever memory does, I heard it can actually hurt fps not raise it. Any input or advice is welcome.

If it find that it performs great on BF3 and other games, then leave it alone and be happy with the good oc evga provides. If you want to increase your AA/AF a notch then bump up the gpu and mem clocks.

I own a Gigabyte gtx 670OC and have bumped it higher to run my BF3 at max/ultra settings with:

gpu clock +135 to 1115mhz
memory clock +500 to 1752mhz/7008mhz
boost clock to 1194mhz
max clock to 1350mhz

I wouldn't go much higher then you are. Kepler is hitting 1215-1275mhz walls(As far as I have seen) because of temperatures with reference coolers which is what you have. Once you get up above certain temperatures itll start throttling down.

Im still surprised that your card boosted to 1215 out of the box.when it should have just done 1087

Boost and max clocks are different. I believe his actual max clock is 1215 and his stock boost clock is 1084. The precision x software should show what your card is maxing out at. Mine was maxing out at 1215/1216mhz out of the box with no oc than the standard oc gigabyte provided.

if its stable, and whatever the increase in audible noise doesnt bother you then use it. satisfy you oc cravings a little

thats confusing as all hell lol. So now theres really 3 clocks lol. Whats the point of boost clock if it goes beyond that do max clock?

I haven't really looked into how overclocking kepler goes though so that might be why im confused.

I agree, Nvidia introducing the boost clock has confused me too. I understand their reasoning behind it, guaranteed oc and increased power efficiency.

But now, we have to track three gpu clocks and the mem clock! Yay! :banghead:
