gtx 760 on AM3

So my buddy just got a gtx760 to replace his 6870. We put the card in and the system booted into windows fine, but the system did not seem to detect the card, tryed to install the drivers but only got errors and tried to reseat it. So i tested the card in my fx rig and it worked fine.

Anyone know what might be the issue?

The 760's owners rig:

Fx6300
16 gb ram

HD 6870 Catalyst drivers uninstalled before installing the new card [*If no]

*install the HD6870, uninstall the catalyst drivers [select: Express], restart windows;
allow windows to install the generic vga driver shutdown windows.
power down the PSU remove the HD 6870

install the GTX760,
