Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
+1 radrok, sure is...

The bin to the clockspeed they figured out would make the best yields. Not over it. Past that, it is all a craphsoot.

As a matter of fact, I have in my PC now a reference 780 that will match and surpass those clocks speeds.

erm someone need to count bcs

Classy is 699,99USD
780 w/ACX is 659,99USD

which makes the Classy 40,00USD more expensive not a 100USD o_O

I have dealt with three GK110 chips, one Zotac reference, one Gainward reference and one Zotac AMP.

The Zotac amp wouldn't go over 1150 MHz on valley, which is piss poor bench for stability.

The two reference models were the best clockers with the Gainward doing 1202 Mhz stable and 1228/1240 Mhz for the reference Zotac..

Figure binning would have given the AMP the upper hand....

They are binned to fit to that clockspeed under XX amount of power. That is it (for the most part). Over that, it is a crapshoot. I do not believe the Lightning or Classifieds are any different... I can reach out to MSI and EVGA and see what they say though...

I believe so too, I once read neliz saying that they would need extensive testing about stability and reliability if they were to sell an out of the box insane overclock on their SKUs, let's say in the ballpark of double the percent of other manufacturers.

I guess they just give you a better power delivery and PCB that is capable of withstanding the increased TDP and voltage followed by a good out of the box OC which doesn't compromise long term reliability.

Speaking of Classy and Lightning they are so damn late to the party every single time I just don't consider them an option, even if I like to tweak a lot.

One of the vendors that are selling the SC do not charge Sales Tax, and the vendors that are selling the Classified do. The tax is roughly 50USD, which would give me the 100USD difference.
