GTX1060m 3gb Bios

Hello, im looking for a gtx1060M 3gb bios. i have already searched the vga bios collection and cannot seem to find one. if anybody who has one could upload theirs to this thread that would be great.

Now you might be wondering why i want a bios from a gtx1060m 3gb and thats because they have all 1280cores active and use the same memory as the 3gb desktop version. my goal is to try and unlock those cores on the 3gb desktop card.

Please dont tell me it wont work and that im going to brick my card. i know fully well what i am doing and understand all the risks.i do this type of stuff often. I have a bios programmer and thats how i will be flashing the rom to the card.

What ive tried already is the 6gb gtx1060 bios from multiple cards. i was 99% sure they would not work because of the memory difference alone but wanted to see anyway.

Dude, my guess is as good as yours, i did not find a mobility part, that means no one here or those who visited have had that particular model of gpu...

I would check gpuz for the amount of shaders that the mobile 1060 3gb has. I think the mobile 1060 3gb has the same amount of shaders has the 6gb version.
Are you sure you want to ruin a perfect laptop to get 5% faster performance. The difference in the desktop version between the 3gb and 6gb is only 5-6%.
I've been a member of laptop review forums for over 6 years, I have never seen a bios deposit list on there. Laptops are much more locked down vs the desktop counterpart.
Also it really depends on the laptop manufacturer, some really lock it down like HP and Dell (alienware), while other like Clevo are much more consumer friendly and easier to get into the bios but still hard. These companies have deals with Nvidia that make it hard to get into graphics cards bios or to edit it.
Not worth the risk to brick the laptop.

my intent is the other way around. i plan to use the mobile gtx1060 3gb bios on a desktop gtx1060 3gb to TRY and unlock extra cores. I just dont have a bios from a laptop gtx1060 3gb. if the bios from the laptop card works on the desktop card i then plan to use Mobile Pascal TDP Tweaker on it to make its power setting reflect the ones from the desktop gtx1060 3gb bios so it does not throttle. in an odd way i would say the mobile gtx1060 3gb bios is more mod friendly because of this tool. without it i would have to perform a shunt mod to fix the tdp issue. But, this only is assuming the bios unlocks anything or works the way i need it to.

otherwise i completely agree with you if i was doing what you believed.

Edit: i may have found a mobile gtx1060 3gb bios to try. will post here latter if i get it.

Those extra shaders or cores you are talking about is laser cut at the Nvidia factory, its impossible to just unlock them. Even if you do find a laptop bios, the bios are hard coded to the laptop maker.
If you are having heating issues, I would recommended using the vacuum to blow the dust away or can of compressed air.
Good lord, are people that desperate for 3C cooler or 5% extra performance to ruining a gpu.
Why not just use MSI afterburner and lower the power throttle.

please read my first post. the whole point of all this is to try and see if i can unlock the cores on a desktop gtx1060 3gb using the bios from a Laptop gtx1060 3gb card. has nothing to due with temps or any of that.

Edit: why i talked about throttling is due to the fact that the mobile bios has a lower tdp then its desktop card and would not reach full potential on the desktop card if its tdp was left alone. thats why i would mod the bios using mobile pascal tdp tweaker to mod the bios to correct this. This is all assuming the bios from a laptop gtx1060 3gb will work on a desktop gtx1060 3gb.

If you dont want the card I can add it to my many mining cards.
Flashing a mobile bios to a desktop, aahahaaa...No mames guey

sometimes in order to get the results we want we need to think outside the box.

So i found a bios and flashed it to the card. https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/193151/193151
it flashed fine and the motherboard detected the card and isntalled all the drivers but i had no display and had to use the onboard during this whole process. in addition to this device manager kept stopping the driver because it reported a problem. gpuz reported seeing the card but did not show any specs.

so i can safely say that the laptop counterpart bios wont work on this card. im not done trying bios mods as i plan to use a hex editor and dig into the bios specifics of the card.

Desktop GPUs use DisplayPort (or HDMI), mobile GPUs use embedded DisplayPort as default port.
Must be configured somewhere in VBIOS i guess.

You should have simply tried using a desktop 6GB 1060 bios on that 3GB card.
However, I don't think it'll work, I believe Nvidia laser-cut crippled and defective chips, making it impossible to re-enable disabled units on the GPU; this is why there are so many variants of the same chip in the wild, for example: GP106-400-Ax for 6GB cards and GP106-350-Ax for 3GB cards, the former being fully functional and the latter crippled/defective.

will check out some of the 6gb versions but sense i have a 6gb card and the 3gb card i was able to confirm different model numbers between the memory on the two cards.

Final fighter I'm sorry to say this but there are no bios editing tools for the Nvidia bios and they are encrypted so unless if you find a link where there is a way to decrypt the Nvidia bios files and if you understand hex editing very well I wouldn't do it unless if you know how to recover from a brick all I can say at this point is good luck to you man I'm sorry that we can't help you any further at this point unless if Nvidia decides to have mercy and open certain things up like A&D did

i started this project knowing their was only a very very small chance i would be able to unlock the cores so i wont be disappointed if i cant. its really just something to burn some down time and do something that i like doing plus it makes for an interesting thread. not to mention it could save somebody the trouble of bricking their card and not being able to recover because they don't have the tools to do so.

Look for the bios repository maybe there are custom bios there for nv cards?
