I have a Gigabyte GTX460 1GB and i currently have it overclocked to 850/1700/2000 and yesterday i decided to let GPU-Z log the sensors for me and after playing starcraft 2 for awhile i checked the logs and it says that my GPU downclocked to stock settings.

Is this normal ? is GPU-Z messed up? any help would be appreciated.

Using V0.4.4 of GPU-Z? The 460 is a bit new and GPU-Z might still need some work for the 460. It is NOT normal to have your OC backed off to defaults. What did you use to OC the 460?

im sorry, i didnt make myself clear, i didnt mean to say that GPU-Z is changing my clocks, what i am trying to say is that based on the sensor log from GPU-Z it shows my card downclocking back to defaults. I dont know if thats a error on the gpu-z sensor log, or something else, but when i checked the clocks they were at 850/1700/2000 based on gpu-z and msi afterburner.

i have the log here if you need it "W1zzard"

maybe your card overheated? then the driver reduces the clocks

it shows a maximum of 58C while playing starcraft 2, and fan was set to jump from 40% to 50% once it reaches above 50C

i dont think its overheating.

IMHO, its a GPU-Z issue ... Its been awhile, but I believe Afterburner has a log capability; if so, compare it against GPU-Z's. Or compare it against the log in HWMonitor, some other logging app.

I have been having a lot of "weird" issues with my galaxy 460 gc. This is one that I have seen as well, doesn't matter if I use afterburner, gpu-z or xtreme hd to monitor. Almost seems like a driver issue (this combined with my other problems).

According to DPC latency checker:

Absolute maximum: 134

while watching a movie, listening to music and opening programs like gpu-z.

while you were playing SC2, did your display go dark and return to normal for a while?

I'm asking this because I experienced the same issue. When Afterburner and GPUz were still showing my card's overclocked speed I knew it was not true because after a while my gtx460 has reverted to default speed while I was playing.

that's when the card hangs/crashes and the driver restarts the graphics card which causes it to lose all overclock of course
