Guys, I made some changes in my rig, i sold my hd5870 and my old mobo ga ds4x58.
Bought 2 GTX460 gigabyte1gb OC and a new mobo Asus p6x58d premium.

So here is my question im planning to get a 1000w PSU and im wondering if adding my 9600gt asus for phyxs will be a nice idea?
i havent installed yet cuz im running my 700w psu and im afraid to overload it.
I can sell it and save some bucks for my new psu or ,will increase my performance if I keep it?

i just want to increase more and more my rig performance and maybe this could result on a bottleneck.
i thought that if i dedicated the 9600gt only for phyxs and the 2 gtx460 for graphics will increase my frames.
im running my 2 cards at 16x,this mobo has two ways of sli, 1 is 16x/8x/8x and the other
16x/16x/1x so this have me worried too. i would have to put 1st way to get some performance from the 9600gt and in the other hand it will decrease my 2 gtx 460.
what do u think??:banghead:

I have two GTX 460's. I also tested them for awhile with several different cards used just as PhysX cards.
I can tell you that the 9600GT (MSI 9600GT 512MB) worked the worst out of all of them that I tested.
Actually all of the cards that I tested really did a worse job then if I used the on board PhysX from my GTX 460's.
The only GPU that didn't do worse (Was more about on par) was using a GTS 450 lately. This was done by using my buddies GTS 450 and overclocking it.

I would suggest just using the GTX 460's it's self for PhysX. If you are playing games like Batman exc..... one GTX 460 is enough to play the game. Then use the other one as the PhysX card.

I did most of my testing with Benchmarks though.

But the only time I got really any benefit was if the game was too much for one GTX 460. For example Metro 2033. Because I needed more power from two GTX 460's to play that game that is when the 9600GT came in handy for PhysX.
But still it didn't do very well.

So 2 gtx460 are enough for most of games till now, but what about the upcomings.
I mean Crysis2, Brink and Rage. those are keeping me worried about my rig performance!
so i worried about future games.

Sorry it took so long to answer this...But yes really most games that utilize PhysX right now 2 GTX 460's is enough.
But for future games more will probably be required. But if more is required in the future a 9600GT would definitely not cover it then.
I would say do something like this....Wait till the GTS 430 releases and pick one of those up. Otherwise wait till the new ATI 6000 series releases then all of the Nvidia stuff will drop allot. Then pick up a GTS 450.

The 450 will be overkill for awhile but not for long.

The good news is when I used that GTS 450 for PhysX I did get about 40% to 50% usage out of it while dedicating it just to PhysX

None of those games use PhysX so a 9600 isn't going to help. Do you play any games that actually use PhysX?
