well if it were to fall under $200 due to Kepler then it might be considered by the OP IMO. So then it is in the discussion, is it not?.

Yes. But it's not going to happen. The OP knows his hardware and what he is doing if he needs/wants a card now, the 7 series just isn't an option.

I've been comparing 570 and 6950 with unlocked shaders...I gotta say it seems the 570 is faster, even with no OC. It's a tough choice...it sohuld be a bit faster, but not much. If it matches your build better, then personally, I'd do it, but it's not exactly the most cost-effective move, for sure.

i do appreciate the replies but it seems half of you didnt read my initial posting.

$400+ cards arent an option at this time

long story short, im thinking a "sidestep" may be an acceptable option as i can sell my card for around $250 and get a 570 for the same price or less. im even contemplating dipping in the extra $60 for a 580.

what i dont get is why the 7800 cards beat the 7900 cards???

and double thanks to erocker and cadeveca :toast:

Newer Design of the 7900 vs the Proven design of the 7800. Also another point to take, bits/bites like being evenly distributed. So take 2048 and 4096 for example, bits/bites evenly distribute themselves, its the order of operations in binary code
