GTX660Ti and GTX1070 together?

So, long story short, at some point I may run my GTX660Ti as my primary card with one of my 1070s as a secondary. Is this possible? Should I expect some kind of weirdness to happen running two such different cards together? This isn't for SLI or anything, just the 660Ti will be the primary while the 1070 mines in the background.

Wouldn't be there be some type of confusion as far as 3-D applications recognizing the secondary video card as a superior gpu & as preferred mistakenly?

I'm thinking the 660ti should work fine, provided the card itself isn't borked. I used it before the 1070 and in the games I play I barely noticed a difference, if at all...

Remember "dedicated PhysX cards"?

I don't think so. Whatever display adapter gets the primary PCI-E slot (and/or has a monitor hooked up to it) should be recognized as the primary adapter, regardless if it's an 8400gs or RTX Titan.

GTX 660 TI is still decent card.....I have one of those before and it performs on par with GTX 950 more or less...now you probablly can´t notice some difference because you playing games on 1080p/60Hz monitor,yours GTX 1070 will shine if you have 144 Hz monitor or 2k res...otherwise you can only benifit on 1080p-60 fps if you put all details on maximum....BTW GL with this nonsensical experiment :toast:

Wouldn’t it make more sense to use the 1070 as the primary and the 660Ti as the secondary depending on the usage. I mean the 660Ti isn’t terrible but it’s also not great either especially in newer games.

I've run setups like this for years, you shouldn't have a problem as long as both cards are still supported by the latest drivers. Once the older card isn't supported by the latest drivers it gets a little tricky sometimes.

Yeah, honestly the 660Ti, if functional (I suspect it has some issues) would still be okay for me as a gaming card... while I get the max out of my 1070s in this currently abysmal mining economy. I hope one day it might improve, but that's also a separate discussion...

The PSU upgrade is because this power supply I'm using now is okay, but I really shouldn't be trusting it to run two 1070s...

dont even have to swap slots all good on the go.

if its a good 750w it should be fine.
Ive run GTX970x2, with a water loop, and all the standard accoutrements in a HeDT on a EVGA G2 650W.

that 750 should be fine.

I hope so. It's an overclocked 1080Ti and a bunch of over junk in there. I guess I'll find out later on.
