I'm currently choosing between those 2 cards.
1) Palit NE5X750THD41-2065F (2Gb, GM206, $110 USD)
2) Palit or MSI GTX750Ti 2GB (~$120 USD).

Do you think a 512 core GM206 would be a better choice than a 640 core GM107?

The GM107 Ti is obviously better than a GM107 non-Ti. I'm not not too sure that it's better than a GM206 non-Ti.

GTX750 (gm107):
Shading Units: 512
TMUs: 32
ROPs: 16
SMM Count: 4

GTX750 v.2 (GM206):
Shading Units: 512
TMUs: 32
ROPs: 32
SMM Count: 4
+ DX12 feature level 12_1, + hardware HEVC decoding.

At the same price, GM206. 750Ti is probably a better option when considering power consumption, but I am not sure. In any other case the GM206 is a better option.

Pretty sure it was just told that the TI is better in a very obvious statement in post #2.

It's mid-2016.
Don't buy either of those cards, get at least 4GB VRAM.

Not everyone can afford a 4GB card, get off your high horse.

Not much more money for 4GB cards very soon with RX Polaris cards setting lower price points, and older Nvidia stock plummeting in response.
From my perch on my high horse, I am able to see these trends whereas you must peek your head up from below the ground.

I would wait a few weeks for the rx460 (low end budget), which should be a little better than the gtx 950.
The rx 470 is a little bit more in price but should have great performance.

The gtx750Ti is a bit stronger than the Maxwell 750.
