Hello guys,so i recently started playing Final fantasy Realm Reborn with friends with skype running in background. After few hours the game sometimes crashes. Now this is second time it occured,my monitor goes black while in middle of game and computer still running and get no response at all.
The temperature of the GPU and CPU doesn't seem to be an issue but this only occurs with this game only.
Any ideas what could be problem? I have all latest drivers installed.

Are you running the DX11 client that was released with Heavensward?

There have been posts on reedit and other forums about issues people have been having with FFXIV since the DX11 client has been released. For some it doesn't seem to matter if it's nvidia or amd, although I've personally seen what seems like more nvidia 970/980 people complaining. Not that I can attest to or am bashing any vendor but from the posts it seems that it's more common with evga versions of these cards. Again I have no idea why that would be, just pointing out what others have noticed!

Some complain about textures and over glaring lights, and some have issues such as what you've experienced. They've deleted/installed older drivers, newer drivers tried just about anything and for some the issue still seems to persist.

I'm currently using 353.38 drivers and have had my screen go black twice in a one week period, the game was still running and I could here that things were still happening in the game. I've personally tried from 347.88 up to 353.38 (clean removal and install each time of driver and physx only) and my issues have been minor compared to some, but it seems that there is nothing at the moment to fix random crashes in the client.

I still consider myself lucky, a friend of mine built a brand new machine for this game just 3 months ago, i5, msi 970, and they are getting the texture and lighting issues that many other people are getting.

I'd say maybe try older or newer drivers and see if it fixes your issues, or (and not a great fix at all in my mind) just use the dx9 version if your game is to unstable until they find out what is causing issues for so many.

Good luck!

By how much you reckon i should bump up? The core voltage shows 0 so i have no clue what the default would be.

Yep i have all latest drivers installed already.

Yeah i have been running the game at DX11 since i only just started playing the game. I do have the latest drivers which is 353.30 with clean removal installed each time. So there is actually nothing wrong with the card and just a problem with the game itself.
Which is good news i suppose,i'll give the game a go in DX9 and see if it still happens. :)

If it happens in that game might be buggy driver. Happens the same to me in witcher 3, random driver crashes.
I disabled PhysX by setting it to CPU instead and "solved it".
Never happened again.

i use the 347.88 i run FFXIVHW on DX11 i have a 980 and it's OC i encounter a crash only during Crystal towers raids end quest cut-scene,
now that i did read that thread i might try the PhysX via CPU  but i will not update my drivers as anything past 347.88 is not worth it, it seems ...

There are 353.49 drivers available: http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3698

You might try those.
i wonder ... it's the hotfixed .30 or a new one ...

seems it's a new one ... might try ... because the .38 was not a solution :D

This is what I did with mine and solved it for the most part...I still get lock ups once in a while but I think that's a different issue.

CS GO black screen crashes here. Going to bump the voltage .01 and try again. OC is stable in benchmarks so funny if that's the issue...

strange.... DX11, all to the max and a 1440p ish resolution still works flawlessly for hours (i even didn't got any crash since i wrote off here)

did you change your drivers for the 347.88? or are you still on a 353? (none of the 353 works for me no matter what did they fix in the different revision, .30/.39/.49/.54 ...)

for the 9XX serie the latest driver are 347.88, just revert to them if it's not already the case, and if you did ... well ... i wonder where lies the problem, as my OC i stable now, surely not a 970 related issue (a 980 would have it too .... righ? ) faulty card? (i hope not) problem lies elswhere? (maybe not the GPU who is the culprit?)

I had 350.12 (which i was told it was stable) on windows 7 64bit fresh install , only core apps, and got blue screen twice in 1week and i suspect its the nvidias or gtx 970s fault , i just installed 353.49, using DDU, (psysx-driver only) and i will let you know if it fixes the problem im having, which happens only while gaming.

Edit: no OC whatsoever, tryd it and had more trouble.

since countless 9XX owner already tried ... the result is 347.88 or scram ;)

it's known that the 353 or any driver after 347.88 are not up to the task.
currently playing FFXIVHW and no crash no bsod (and that since i reverted to 347.88)

Same here and I'm on 353.49.......See my system specs for PC details

Well I'm all the way over on AMD, my mate has had no end of troubles with his 760 though in ffxiv, yet another friend who also has an i5+760 no problems

That's why I think it's something system specific, how much difference can there be between 2 i5+760 systems

Edit: writing is difficult when your tanks dieing

There are several threads out there about people having issues with ffxiv and dx11. It does not effect everyone nor does there seem to be any one common theme to the issue as far as hardware goes. People with both nvidia and amd cards, various versions of the drivers, etc.

I've tried from 347.88 up to the latest hotfix driver which I'm currently still running. I have had a few freezes and even some black screens where the game was still running but I had no screen! Each time I've updated or rolled back I used DDU to do a clean install (also choosing clean install while installing), installing just the drivers+physx. So far hotfix drivers 353.49 have been working very well for me.

Some people have rolled back to even earlier versions and swear by them while others get crashes and black screens with the same versions. Case in point GreiverBlade had bad luck with whichever 35x.xx drivers he used, but is having no issues with 347.88 while those drivers froze on me twice and black screened on me 3 times.

I hope that they figure out what the issue is, I know a few people in game that are effected by it to the point they really can't even enjoy the game.

So far hotfix drivers 353.49 have been working very well for me.

i got some black screen and freeze on 347.88 but it turned out it was my OC who wasn't stable (240/360) while 200/300 is stable... so yep 347.88 are the one  (for me, and maybe some others)
and i am not the one who a revert solved the whole majority of the problems (on 9XX owner, 7XX seems fine with newer drivers)

My 970 is running at factory specs, I used to run it OC'd for a while when I first got it since it did OC very nicely, but seeing how I was already getting great FPS with factory settings I didn't see the need to keep it OC'd at this time. And for the record it's never been OC'd since HW came out, besides a few times just to pump the #s up on the benchmark for fun! :)

well your G1 Gaming is already factory OC ... :D (just like my Poseidon Platinum is ) it's not really needed to OC more (unless you are an enthusiast and OC for the sake of finding a stable OC, like i do) also some card are unstable @ Factory OC (which really sucks) let's just hope it's not the case of the OP's card. (tho when i read EVGA ... i remember the issue i had with my EVGA GTX 460 .... unstable at factory OC unless undervolted... o_O )

test the 353.49 1st yes ... if it behave like it did for me, i recommend to test the 347.88 indeed

for the OC well each card are different for me it's stable at +200/+300 but i always use the power target and voltage sliders to +125 and +37mV (the max on my card )
