If you had to look him up, you are missing out. God of War is one of the best series of games I have ever played. And I'm a PC gamer at heart, but God of War is simply amazing, you cannot judge Kratos without knowing what it is like to play a GoW title.

Kratos is fine in the Top Ten, I mean he's the ultimate embodiment of a badass antihero of all time.
Also Gordon Freeman comes to no surprise.

But come on... Mario on first? There are so many better charakters than him. I mean the Mario games are a pretty deep impact on culture, but he is just a plumber. And so... good, ech.

And Soap McTavish come on. Have they asked anyone born before 1995? That'd explain Guybrush being so far behind.

I think he deserves top 10 more so than, Lara Croft, Master Chief, or Solid Snake. Yes they all come from extremely popular franchises. but Laras franchise has seen ups and downs, and eh, just seemed like James Bond with boobs (which is cool, but boobs doesn't make her any more desered). Halos been a high selling series, but Halo 1 is better than the rest of the sequels, and Master Chief just lacks personality as a character. And Solid Snakes franchise has been huge also, but I still think the GoW series is better.

Like I said, the list of clones is unreal, Dante's Inferno, Darksiders, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, both Star Wars Force Unleashed titles, Heavenly Sword, Wolverine, Conan, Bayonetta. And most of these games are 80/100 or greater, these are just the clones I can think of off the top of my head. GoW has made such a lasting impression it seems people are afraid to step outside of that mold, thats why I can't play either Force Unleashed, it's a clone, but it isn't nearly as smooth, Wolverine was great, but not quite up to par.

In the comics for sure. In the videogame world, I would say shared. Batman AA was an impressive game, and I hope they can do it again, but Kratos has been on the videogame scene much longer doing his thing, and what he does to innocent bystanders that get in his way, is much worse than what Batman does.

Altho I do agree of Kratos being high up there shouldn't be top ten but not even a mention of BJ from Wolfenstein 3d either? Cmon now. "He" spawned a genre that "everyone" plays now, MMO FPS games. This list must have been compiled by some young gamers or the list was only a limited multiple choice based survey. I just find it odd that some of you didn't even know who he was. :ohwell:

Sorry but i dont think Nathan Drake envokes legendary status or the spirit of gaming. Nathan Drake and Kratos are hardly legendary pop up characters of gaming. I would think it was more about how a character effected a series of games and fans.

Alex Kidd or what MailMan said about sub zero i agree they needed at least one MK character in there.
