Does BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 1792MB supports by Motherboard Nvidia Nforce 680i Sli

guys plz let me know i am thinking of buying this product so need opinion from u guys before buying the stuff. ...

The GTX 295 needs a PCI-E x16 slot. You motherboard has that, yes it's compatable. Make sure your power supply is powerful enough to power the card.

I see no reason why it wouldnt work, though you will be restricted by the PCI-E 1.1 bus on the 680i, and could lose some performance as such.

Yes it will work but I suggest you buy a better board. 680i is getting old.

should get you by till you upgrade the rest of your system.....it will be better performance than what ever your using now! Please be sure your PSU is up to the task as youll be bumbed if the PSU does fireworks display and takes out other components like new video card.

No it shouldn't. It only said 2.0 so it can run at it's full potential, 1.0 won't make a big difference. If u want full performance, like i said buy a new board.

Yes, on something as powerful as a GTX295, (2x GTX280), you really are going to see a performance drop, compared to having a motherboard with a PCI-E 2.0 slot.

It will work, but it will be bottlenecked.

It makes very, very little difference between 1.0 and 2.0. Not noticable. As a matter of fact I swapped my GTX260 from a 1.0 board to a 2.0 pci-e board and there wasn't even a 100 point difference in 3dMark Vantage.

Np. Anyways what specs are the rig u using? GTX295 has some high requirements.

It makes very, very little difference between 1.0 and 2.0. Not noticable. As a matter of fact I swapped my GTX260 from a 1.0 board to a 2.0 pci-e board and there wasn't even a 100 point difference in 3dMark Vantage.

Dont forget that the GTX295 is two GTX280's trying to squeeze all their data down one 16x PCI-E. I would think that you would see a fair performance hit on this card.

Before you buy such a powerful card, I would look at getting a higher res monitor (at least 1920x1080), and OC that CPU! At least 3Ghz ideally. You will also prob need a better PSU, what do you have now?

IMO, you really dont need such a powerful card, it would be better for you to get something like the new GTX285

No luck on ocing it's a dell.

Don't buy the GTX 285 just yet because it costs around $400 and only 10% better than 280 and 280 is around $300.

Damn just noticed a Dell, so no OC for you , now there is really no point upgrading. Unless you get a new non OEM mobo, a 2.4Ghz CPU will severely bottleneck and graphics upgrade, hell its prob bottlenecking the 8800GTX!

If it was me, I'd get a P45 mobo, a GTX285 and a corsair PSU around 600W.

I think you got some bad information. PCI-E x16 doesn't perform like x8?! It's been proven over and over again that performance increases from 1.0 to 2.0 (even using a 4870x2) are very minimal. That said there is no way I would recommend a GTX 295 for the OP's system. A GTX 260 mabye, but on a Dell it will still be bottlenecked.

Dell PSU's are generally high quality and made by Channelwell. I still doubt the PSU in the system will be able to power such a card.
