Hey guys, turned on my pc today and it switched off after about 10 seconds and said overclocking failed. H80 pump was making crazy whining noises and the fans were just blowing out cold air. Presuming it was the cooler that was causing it to shut down, as the copper was pretty damn hot. Ordered a h100 for next day as I can't live without a pc for too long. Just hoping that was the only issue with it.

Yes.

You probably should of contacted Corsair before buying a new unit though.

I would have done, but it was only a matter of time before I wanted a bigger better cooler anyway, and this was on sale for 15% off xD

Just get a real liquid cooling loop with industrial grade pump. I had an H80 as well way back and pump died out after a few months. I had an overclocked cpu as well. They say the jet plate inside sometimes warp out of heat, hitting the impeller which in turn makes a nasty sound.

I have heard a lot of bad things about the pump in the h80, though my CPU runs very cold so I can't be sure if it will warp.

Sounds like your one died and like everyone has said you should RMA it too. Fortunately for me my one hasn't died and probably won't be dying anytime soon; and my one is in use right now keeping my CPU at 22°C. :)
