I don't think it will be Half Life Ep3 though. Still, she was an enjoyable character and Valve has made some truly special top notch games. Assuming the leak is true from the Valve employee. I don't know if some of the games planned won't be VR which would be good for me as I don't plan to get VR gear.

A good Half-Life 3 VR exclusive would be the very definition of a killer app. Seriously, I'd go VR for that.

That's something I wondered about too. How do these Publishers/Developers think that they will make a profit catering to such a small niche market?

To push for the platform. This isn’t it, but make a really good HL3 for VR and that number will climb. Honestly at this point to me it would be the only way to make HL3.

VR seemed cool when I was a kid in the 90's, but seems very meh now. I cant see myself getting VR for any specific title.

Simulations games that what VR is good for now . Is not really ideal for FPS shooters but something slow like Subnautica that have VR is cool . HL3 is like a Unicorn . We will see .

VR is awesome for FPS games! If you have the stomach for it. Playing FPS in VR with full motion is like running around in RL with a gun and killing bad guys. It's just super cool.

For anyone wondering if Valve will later release a version of this game for mouse/keyboard Valve said no, that it is currently not possible:

"We would love to be delivering a version of this that you could play with a mouse and a keyboard. But like as we said, it began as an exploration of VR. The more we used the controllers and the headset, we realized the the amount of interactions this gives, the amount of possibilities these things give us. The more we explored this, the more we realized that there’s so much opportunity that we can’t really translate back to the keyboard.

When you can track your hands separately from your head. They are all 3D space, all simultaneously tracking and moving, you just can’t get that with a mouse and keyboard. And when you put that into game mechanics, the kinds of interactions that we can do now, we couldn’t possibly do with a mouse and keyboard."








Valve also confirmed that this game is a prequel to Half Life 2 and not a sequel so it's not Half Life 3.

The movement aspect of it is always a question, but live shooting and aiming is a great substitute for shooting through mouselook!

About bulky and uncomfortable... its not particularly heavy but certainly is present. It gets sweaty.

Chicken / egg story really. Without killer app, the hardware won't gain a share. In fact I would say that is the main reason it hasn't besides price of entry. There is no single VR app that 'everybody' plays.

VRChat, thats the big one that the majority of VR users play. However, it can be played with a keyboard and mouse and it doesn't require a very powerful computer so it isn't exactly VR exclusive. I do know people that have bought VR setups just to interact on it though.
