Edit: Do 4:3 and 1280 x 1024 and switch back.

Yeah solid 295FPS the entire test, engine has a frame limit.
Screenshot at the end shows 293.44 ... not really worth it, other than showing "hey the engine still works"

I think the engine has a limitation in place. 1080p resolution with 8x MSAA 16 AF and every details setting on and at the highest value.

I downloaded HL2, and realised i was meant to get lost coast.
I had dial up back then.

So many people forgot that you can actually unlock the FPS cap

Could be worth standardizing the settings, and unlocking the framerate to make the test worth anything.

It could also be a cpu bottleneck (i see single core maxxing out), here is the result with an rx 580 anyways

what is the cpu usage? Edit: ok i got it, when uncapped it spreads the load across 6 threads, so there is no actual bottleneck, just software limitation.

Still have a box of the Half Life 2 - Collector's Edition laying around. Was basically the re-entry drug for Steam & PC Gaming (after C64 & console after console).
Build my first PC extra for it (C2D 8400, MSI 5850 & Asus P5W DH Deluxe). It's already 17 years ago. Gsus, time flies. And still no Half Life 3.

Have to complete my archievments when I get time, so I can put it on my Completionist Showcase on Steam. Did it already offline years ago, but somehow it didn't update on Steam.
The Keep of the Sand Archievment was such a pain in the A!

Anyways the math for 21th Anniversary doesn't add up? HL1 came out in 1998 and HL2 in 2004, i can't seem to get to the number 21.

I don't often finish campaigns, often losing interest part way through, but over a period of a few years, I did that campaign THREE times! Yes, that's how good it is. The atmosphere and dystopian storyline are simply top notch. I loved the two episodes that followed it, too and am still annoyed that they never finished them and left the story on such a cliffhanger.

I was literally playing on the same rig at the time. You should’ve asked me back then. . How to flash it to XT. That’s how I got here and was the resident expert on the subject. I think I was using the ABit IC7. I only ever used ABit back then still got my IP35Pro in mint condition in the box.

Funny enough I’ve actually been playing through HL2 and EP1 just recently since they added UW support

Yeah I've got an IC7 Max 3 here in the box with most of the original accessories Prob one of the first boards with heatsinks on the mosfets.

I was either playing it on my 9800 pro or X800 pro at the time. Mint game. Around the Far Cry days which was the first dx9 game along with Doom 3. Gees they were the days

I would have loved to have come here and see your mods but unfortunately didn't have the net back then. I used to use all my mates networks. I used to love reading W1zzards mods!

Open the developers console " ` ~ key" and type in "max_fps 500" (Or w/e number you need)

That's epic and the 22fps framerate really shows its classic status.

Also, that HL2 key would still activate today as the game is still being sold. I even get small updates for HL2 from time to time. Incredible.
