I was playing Halo 2 PC online when a team "bungie .net staff" member told me that Halo 3 PC is under development. He wasn't on the development team, so he didn't give me an ETA but did confirm it is being made! This is so awesome, I can't wait!

Did you put that space inbetween the dot and the e?

If no, I imagine they're not really who they say they are.

He had that behind his screen name online, it was a special tag for bungie staff. That was how it was spelled verbatim, hence the quotes. I have a screenshot of the conversation on my XFire profile. There is no reason it can't come out for PC. There have been several Xbox 360 game ports. Halo 1 took 2 years to come to PC, Halo 2 took 3 years. There is still time based on this time frame.

This will beat up the Xbox 360 version and take it's lunch money. All the Xbox 360 ports I have are waaaaayyyy better on PC.

Couldn't care less. With all the hype around Halo i expected it to be superb. It turned out to be a complete garbage. Only good part was where you first meet the Flood, the atmosphere there was really good and the way they delivered mysterious "Flood" through helmet cams of the soldiers. And multi was fun for what i've tried it. Other than that, total crap. And what a horrific level design with zero level of originality (they've literally copied half the levels and pasted them over and over again). I've had more fun playing Chaser or Red Ocean which were both low budget games compared to overhyped Halo.

I'm excited about this one and thanks for sharing the info. I've tried playing FPS on console and you just can't beat the game play and feel of a mouse and controller. I think I need to play through Halo and Halo 2 again to remember what's going on.

Because millions are nothing but sheep it appears. This still doesn't change the fact that Halo is totally overhyped shit. I still can't believe they made so much noise about it. I tried it just because of that. And it was craptaculary awful. I mean you can't afford to copy&paste entire level segments (anyone remembers Bridge and Library) in a 1A game like Halo was suppose to be. Yet they did that. Story? Bah, apart from the Floods, Super Mario's story is more amusing.
Graphics? Sure there was whole lot of noise about being first DX9 game, yet apart from god rays through trees it was average at best. And ran like crap. So even if millions say the game was orgasmic, i still think it's nothing but overhyped junk. Yes, it was that bad experience.

If Halo 2 hadn't gimped the editor then it would have done massively better. It would have been a simple matter to disable achievements on custom maps, but MS was afraid of modders adding too many features to take away from Halo 3. That's why they clamped down and had forum posts deleted when someone figured out how to do online coop in Halo 1. If they realize how much value proper modding support adds maybe this won't suffer the same fate as Halo 2 for PC.

Please post the screen.

Well, the game IS shit by all means and standards. I don't know what ppl are thinking when they crown a game with lame graphics, crappy storyline, no atmosphere (apart again from the Flood part), unimaginative level design as one of the best shooters. It's simply not one.
And i can generally be amused very easily by cheap and fun games and i also prefer deep games like System Shock 2, Deus Ex, The Elder Scrolls Morrowind/Oblivion, but with Halo, i was yawning all the time and bitching why the f**k i have to cross the same damn identical bridge 6 times. Or walk over 4 identical library floors. And a space ship with dirty textures instead shiny ones.

Sorry but i have to attack and hijack every Halo praising thread because i was so damn irritated by the whole Halo thing. So much hype around it when they launched it and what a cold shower when i actually played it... Aaaaaaaaahh...

yeah but goldeneye wasn't a god of a game when it came out - it was innovative for consolers which is where the hype for halo comes from.

I'm not a console hater - i've had some great experiences on them and frequently use mine. but there is no denying it caters to the simplest common denominator... pretty colors, big boom, macho shit - that makes a great game. Gears of War isn't THAT great either - but for a console game it is a high standard ... unfortunately so the same with Halo. lucky for me I use the pc for shooters - the only exclusives I like are killzone 2 and resistance.

what i'm saying is - for what they want , it is great. we just want more. which is hard on us - but i don't see where they are in the wrong. if they like the series, let 'em. I only ever liked Halo 1 cause it was on MAC :)

You diss the Halo story line then say you consider oblivion "deep". Your opinion is now invalid for all entertainment related comments.

Lmao, sure. And Deus Ex is a walk and shoot only right? And System Shock. And Morrowind.
And even if Oblivion storyline isn't top notch, it has a living, breathing world where i could spend days (in fact i did). And not bitching about damn bridge in Halo after 5 minutes of play.
Plus the core gameplay elements were far more advanced with character evolving, upgrading, equipement, side quests that were really fun. And don't hang onto "we're talking about games that are set few years apart". Morrowind was released around Halo time and is far more advanced in pretty much every way. So that's a poor excuse at best.

I think the only ones praising Halo are console players that have yet to invent the power of keyboard+mouse and those that haven't played anything better. For the rest it's nothing but average or below average shooter game.

Halo was awesome on consoles when it first came out. I didn't see what all the fuss was about when I played it 5 years later for the first time. The Halo games were awesome on the consoles but not so great on PC when ported over several years later and other games had better graphics by that time. Halo 2 PC is seriously fun online despite the dated graphics and is one of my all time favorite games. I will post the screen when I photoshop out the guys name so he doesn't get spammed with Halo 3 PC info requests.

Here is a screenshot of the conversation that went on in the server lobby. Unfortunately, I didn't think to take a screenie of him saying Halo 3 was "in development" until it had scrolled by and I couldn't scroll back up to it at that point. If you look at the top name, it states he is bungie in the watermark. He said he is the only one from bungie that actually plays Halo 2 PC.

Halo 2 PC plays so awesome online. The story in SP is interesting as well. The art design of Halo 2 is very interesting also Although it looks simplistic now, it is interesting to see the creativity involved with the technology they originally used (Xbox). I like it a lot more than the first Halo, which I thought was a cool game but somewhat stale as a SP game. Playing H2V in MP really made me wish for a port of Halo 3. When this guy said it was in development, I was blown away.

If your PC is powerful enough, the framerate should be higher on PC along with image enhancing AA & AF that Xbox 360 can't do along with the higher res. They greatly enhanced the clarity of the textures used for H2V, the Xbox version looks really blurry in comparison. There is an article on Gamespot comparing the two versions side by side. Any DLC they released after Halo 3 came out on Xbox 360 will most likely be included with Halo 3 PC like they did H2V. Bungie included the map pack and made 2 more maps for H2V. Lot of awesome user made maps, including Halo 3 recreation maps that add a lot of replay to H2V. They've learned new programming tricks for Reach but it's still the same generation of console, so the graphics aren't a huge leap forward in that respect. I doubt they will do Reach for PC unless it sells like hotcakes.
