xbox is 720p with no AA, a PC in 1080P with 4-8xAA and AF to boot should already make a big difference, and who knows, maybe they will throw us a bone in terms of eye candy too.

Halo 3 is horrible, the graphics are more like a xbox 1 title than a xbox 360 title, if they are just going to port it to PC, without a new engine, and after so much time, I think i'll pass this one too. And i agree Halo is for kids, it's too colourful and some enemies are pathetic.

This is the commitment M$ has to the PC, porting shit late

Halo 1 & 2 got low scores for the PC ports compared to the original scores for the Xbox versions. Halo 3 will probably be the same way. Still, I'm a big fan of Halo 2 and the improvement of Halo 3's graphics and gameplay is appreciable, so I'll gladly take it.

Lmao, sure. And Deus Ex is a walk and shoot only right? And System Shock. And Morrowind.
And even if Oblivion storyline isn't top notch, it has a living, breathing world where i could spend days (in fact i did). And not bitching about damn bridge in Halo after 5 minutes of play.
Plus the core gameplay elements were far more advanced with character evolving, upgrading, equipement, side quests that were really fun. And don't hang onto "we're talking about games that are set few years apart". Morrowind was released around Halo time and is far more advanced in pretty much every way. So that's a poor excuse at best.

I think the only ones praising Halo are console players that have yet to invent the power of keyboard+mouse and those that haven't played anything better. For the rest it's nothing but average or below average shooter game.

What you described is any rpg. So now we know you like rpgs. Why are you comparing that to an fps? If it was a rpgfps then maybe that would make sense.

Oh god are you gonna bitch about every detail? Series Sam is trillion light years better than any Halo. Here, now you have a shooter without any RPG elements. And aliens are in it. And space ships. Happy?

Apples and oranges. To say one game is good and one is bad is purely based on your opinion of the game. I play games all the time that I think are very good and others think are mediocre to terrible, and vice versa. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There is no scientific way to methodically prove a game is good or bad. The closest we have are game reviews, which a majority of the time are ball park for me. I like every game mentioned in this thread and have fun playing them all (all the ones I have played, which is almost all). It's rare I play a game and not find something that was fun about it, even if is has huge design shortcomings. It was designed to be fun in the first place, even if sometimes it isn't at all. XD

Because millions are nothing but sheep it appears. This still doesn't change the fact that Halo is totally overhyped shit. I still can't believe they made so much noise about it. I tried it just because of that. And it was craptaculary awful. I mean you can't afford to copy&paste entire level segments (anyone remembers Bridge and Library) in a 1A game like Halo was suppose to be. Yet they did that. Story? Bah, apart from the Floods, Super Mario's story is more amusing.
Graphics? Sure there was whole lot of noise about being first DX9 game, yet apart from god rays through trees it was average at best. And ran like crap. So even if millions say the game was orgasmic, i still think it's nothing but overhyped junk. Yes, it was that bad experience.

Some people anustly don't get what the over-hype was about. The game was wonderful for the RPG playing Single Player guys, some people at least, and the people that don't like that side of the game, Love the Multiplayer, Its great stuff on the PC.

I hate single player.

Love the multi player, something about it just makes it way to competitive in every aspect.

I presume you mean Halo and not Elder Scrolls. Halo is all action not RPG and Elder scrolls III & IV aren't online. Yes, it is extremely competitive online. There are people that have been playing for 100's if not 1000's of hours, so there is no way your noob self will outscore them unless you play as much as they have and hone your game.

The 360 does have AA.

The Xenos GPU has "a 10 MB eDRAM daughter-die," because of this it can do 4x FSAA, z-buffering and alpha blending with no applicable performance effects.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenos_(graphics_chip)

EDIT: Its 720p upscaled sometimes not even 720p thats where it fails, you need a good tv to get rid of the jaggies on a large screen. Noticed that upscaling to a proper 1080p tv the jaggies are smoother.

Here is part of the conversation we had on my server last night in Halo 2 PC after I invited him to my game. This is word for word verbatim:

me: people been bothering you about Halo 3? Halo 3 PC?

bungie staffer: No, I never tell stuff like that [almost never]

me: good plan, how long you guys been working on it?

bungie staffer: I don't know exactly but the Halo 3 guys started some months ago

bungie staffer: But they were also doing other stuff, i don't know what

me: kewl, no one believes me when I say Halo 3 PC will come out, so your secret is safe XD

bungie staffer: Don't tell it to everyone

me: it is highly probable I let the cat out of the bag but no one cares, everyone wants reach for PC

bungie staffer: Me too, I haven't played it yet

me: think they'll do that one?

bungie staffer: I really don't know that but they are porting Halo3 maybe they will also do reach

I don't take this to mean Halo Reach is coming to PC any time soon, it means he thinks they could do it, technically. He is confirming Halo 3 for PC in this conversation.

This will beat up the Xbox 360 version and take it's lunch money. All the Xbox 360 ports I have are waaaaayyyy better on PC.

Thats ok, I will sit here enjoying Reach! :rockout: Then dust off ODST for the hell of it :D

Like I said, they've squeezed more out of the Xbox 360 with Reach and ODST since Halo 3 but the difference isn't like a console generational leap. The enhanced image on PC will more than make up the difference. My i7 950 + GTX 470 will master Halo 3 PC. It will be cool when the next generation of consoles has similar specs to the system I just mentioned.

I'll post an edited screenie of the bungie staffer stating they are working on Halo 3 PC here shortly.

The cynic in me wants to point out a few things:

According to Wikipedia, Bungie doesn't own Halo, Microsoft does. Now Microsoft could still pay Bungie to port the game for them, but that seems unlikely as Bungie has said they want to start other projects, and they didn't do the ports of either Halo game. So to say Bungie is working on Halo 3 PC, while possible, sounds unlikely.

The cynic in me wants to say. Of course they're making Halo 3 for the PC! They've done it with the first two.. Microsoft owns it.. DERRRRP. It's just a matter of time. If they were to officially announce it right now, my expression would be "yup", then I would go back to whatever I was doing.

A Bungie developer that hasn't played Reach? Strange!
Halo 3 was out in September 25, 2007.

Never bothered a rats ass about Halo 2 on Vista, the first though was stellar at the time on PC then it started to get infested with cheats and mods.

Check out Gates selling copies of Halo 3 at launch. Got it from wikipedia.

He may be a developer or not, he works for Bungie is all I know for sure. The development team for Reach are the ones that get to play it. Microsoft may own the IP but Bungie created it in the first place, they can work on a port if they want. Here is the screenie of the conversation. I think this is legit inside info that this could come out. Lots of games have been canceled before their release, so it isn't out until it's out.

Who cares about H3? This game was released in 2008? Havn't we moved on?

Halo is an XBox title and will remain an Xbox title. MS can sell more copies of games on XBox than PC anyways so why bring it.

Anyways GFWL sucks ballwz.

You know legally you could be screwing yourself and this guy. What if his buddy comes across this or anyone at MS that still thinks they are a worthy company(enough to push charges) and search you and this guy out? Why even jeopardize it over a game that was released over 2 years ago? If Halo 3 comes out for the pc I'll call Bill Gates on my Banana phone and thank him personally.

Halo series has always been ported belatedly, Bungie needs to work on that. There is no personal info on the guy in that pic or my quotes. They would probably warn me first. I said it's coming out for PC, not anything more, that isn't anything to sue over. I'll quote you on this if it does surface, I want pics of the banana phone.

You saying they made a way to recreate the watermark behind his name? He seems legit to me. Can't say that for the multitude of hackers online though.

I wouldn't say its not possible, I've seen people have already hacked the dedicated server files and done stuff like this in a video somewhere

He talks like he is Bungie and seems knowledgeable of the subject. I never claimed this is a 100% guarantee like an official announcement that this is coming out. The naysayers will always find something to nitpick about this. This is for your consideration, nothing more.
