There are several parts that I always buy new - PSU,memory and GPUs (unless I don't plan to keep them for too long).
However,I hardly remember buying a cpu new.I think only my 2500k was brand new.I have no porblem with buying used boards too.

what about you ?

It depends. For my personal rig and for my part-time work I usually get new stuff, because warranty is important. But when it comes to HW for my office - usually build everything from shit and sticks (repairing broken PC parts and putting them together in some semi-functional contraptions).
I think now it's safe to buy any type of used PC parts, including most GPUs. The only thing I'd be worried about, is older SATA SSDs (wear), sAM3 and sFM2/FM2+ stuff (longevity issues), and PSUs.

I typically buy during hardware launches so used isn't really practical for me. Also for me to consider anything used it would need to be 40-50% cheaper than something that performs equivalently which isn't usually the case. I value a 3-5 year warranty substantially more than saving 20-30%

For cpu, ram and monitors, I would consider buying used ones, since these don't easily fail.

Everything used except HDD/SSD.
I especially love used graphic cards, sold as junk with broken fans etc. easy repair!
(Id say easy profit but Im incredibly bad at selling things)
Its more fun to look through couple dozen shops before You find Your items.

I mostly get my parts from thrift store. Recently I got an HP Pavilion P7-1019 for a huge 9.99$ canadian. I just switched the PSU + added 2 gigs of ram and dumped in the HDD. Specs under avatar.

Always new for me and I keep all original packaging so if/when I sell it along the buyer is getting a “used product“ as it would have came new just with my “miles“ on it.

yes,new but with miles is used.

I prefer to get monitors new too.I think all my LED monitors came new.New mice, new keyboard.Cases - used, though my current one I bought new.

I'm not afraid of buying CPUs used mainly cause of LGA sockets. There's no real danger of physical damage for the cpu.

SSDs-yes,though I only bought one used.HDDs - no way.

Sure, why I buy new But I don’t abuse my hardware and I don’t price gouge but the buyer gets a complete product. Actually when I sold my ASUS MG279Q(in the original box) the buyer had me in a panic, complaining about everything being blurry(I actually regret selling it) Once he factory reset it he was happy.
Actually on the used front I need to start buying up Logitech G19s, I am so dependent on the LCD/AIDA64 for system monitoring...If my current one dies I will be lost...

you gotta be joking with the g19.
get a secondary monitor.
as far as my hardware purchases go,going multi monitor is easily top 3 ever.can't go back now.when I play I have afterburner and xtu sensors running on my 1440p 27".enthusiast's wet dream

even a used 21" 1080p tn is going to help you immensely with everyday work.

A second monitor vs a small 3-4’“ colour screen I can make 6 totally custom pages? I don’t do OSDs and I certainly don’t need another monitor for said task...even RTSS runs on it so I’ve got my FPS counter covered as well.

Almost always new, warranty is important to me.
So far I only bought used GPU twice and nothing else 'one GPU died within 1 year' ,my current RX 570 is used but it has local-ish warranty till 2020.december so its alright but I do not buy anything used w/o at least 1 year warranty.

I also keep all my hardware boxes and its nice to get the hardware in its box if I buy used. :)

whatever you say but that's like comparing a mopet to a car.both get you from A to B.
I know this sounds silly, but you can't do things you do on a monitor on a 4" keyboard screen.
you can monitor all individual core usage and all cpu stats without it taking up half your primary monitor space.
I also use it to watch sports and videos when I play.
And not to mention how easy working with multiple word/excel documents or video software is.

It depends what I am after. Lately it's all used parts, as the parts i'm after are no longer manufactured. Things like PSU, fans, SSD, cables, 5.25 front bay display unit always new.

Memory, CPU, GPU, sometimes used, but it's all down to are they still manufactured.

very nice.still, immensely limited.what you get there you can do on your primary screen in the corner.
with afterburner/xtu monitor you get cpu usage, power, voltage and everything you desire in charts over time.
plus, like I said,it makes your whole home/work usage scenarios better.I especially like working on multiple documents and being able to watch games while playing.

I purely game so I don’t need more than one monitor and I get all that info at a glance, if I wanted to log AIDA can do that too. It’s literally only limited by what I want to see. Anything with a sensor I can stick on there. I get 6 blank pages work with I think i’m using 4. I also have a corner desk and 1 27” monitor is my limit...I bought a 32” AOC AGON I had to return because it just wouldn’t fit :(

when i was a student, buying used was the way to go for me, but after studying i mix up buying used and new.
Now im in a different country and used hardware is mostly close to being outdated and pricey. Like GTX470 selling for $80.

I typically buy used parts, but occasionally I'll buy new when the prices are right or the item just isn't available on the used market.

Benchmark Scores A LOT
I purely game so I don’t need more than one monitor and I get all that info at a glance, if I wanted to log AIDA can do that too. It’s literally only limited by what I want to see. Anything with a sensor I can stick on there. I get 6 blank pages work with I think i’m using 4. I also have a corner desk and 1 27” monitor is my limit...I bought a 32” AOC AGON I had to return because it just wouldn’t fit :(
I'll probably stay on a multi monitor setup as long as I'm able to do so.

Won‘t argue it has its practical uses but my little screen makes up for my impractical space.
