Some interesting results there, with the main points being that AMD and NVIDIA are almost neck and neck and CPU refreshes aren't very frequent since an overclocked Sandy Bridge can play all the latest games just fine.

Note that they also compare their anecdotal survey to the Steam and Jon Peddie surveys which match up quite well.

Seems to me that it is a general survey of anyone willing to vote. Adding enthusiast to the title is a bit misleading.

Fixed. They were talking a lot about enthusiasts and their buying habits, so I had that pegged in my mind.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Interesting, that poll... sticks out like a sore thumb compared to other ones, that is for sure. It was also a click to select poll, unlike steam which reads hardware... a few % are flubbed or misleading id imagine. But i do like how they described it as anecdotal at least.

Also, wcftech said they DONT match up in a particular section..
NVIDIA was seen leading the polls but only be a slight margin and this is something that is in contrast to the market share reports by Steam Survey and JPR.

They also mention steam and the other survey account for all gpu shipmemts but in reality its just a hardware poll and has nothing to do with shipped units (steam).

Thanks for the read. :)

true... glass ceilings though...especially on westmere/nehalem.

The WCCFTECH article does say,
The primary difference between the former and our report is the fact that only the enthusiast community participated in our survey

That said, I have to wonder how they determined that. An enthusiast can just be a spectator - not someone who actually owns or is actively involved in a particular activity. Just because a person does not have the budget to spend $300+ on a graphics card, that does not make them less an enthusiast.

I note also it says the majority of their readers are waiting on AMD Vega. There are still a lot of games (with "enthusiast" players) that are more CPU than GPU intensive. So are the majority of "all" enthusiasts waiting on AMD Vega? Or just those enthusiasts among WCCFTECH readers? When it comes to statistics, 5000 is a good size sampling - but only if those sampled accurately represent the whole.

I guess my point is that it is almost impossible to make a truly fair and truly representative survey. If it was easy, we would only need one to accurately reflect the real picture. It is just too easy to accidentally (or intentionally!) skew a survey/poll in one direction or another. I guess that is why politicians can always find a survey that supports their position, no matter how off-the-wall that position is.

Bottom line: Take this (and every) survey with a grain of salt.
