Hi everyone, just flashed my Z490 motherboard to the latest BIOS with support for Resizable BAR for video cards of any brand.

Before I try the feature, just wanted to ask if anyone else has dabbled with it, and what setting do you think offers the best performance gains?

Hope you guys can offer some input on this, does it really offer any improvement, and what, if any, are the risks in enabling this feature?

Thanks for any help!

Edit: After some research, it seems for my card in particular, the feature has to be enabled at the driver level, and Nvidia hasn't released a driver that supports it yet, it's supposed to be released in February... Oh well, will have to wait for that to see if the feature makes any difference in performance.

I did last Saturday. I've only tested one game so far (one of the higher gains as claimed by AMD).

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
Settings: 1440p - Highest with Motion Blur off and AA set to low. (because that's how I play)

That's awesome! Nice uplift, thank you very much for the update!

How much did your set the BAR size to, if I may ask?

You're welcome!

My board didn't have any options for size. I had to enable "Above 4G Decoding" which then presented the option for the Resizable BAR support. My choices were "Disabled" or "Auto".

System Name Old friend
Processor 3550 Ivy Bridge x 39.0 Multiplier
Memory 2x8GB 2400 RipjawsX
Video Card(s) 970 Maxwell STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5
So 99 avg fps increases to 112 with just a bios setting! Interesting indeed!

If not for them, we wouldn't know something like Base Address Register even existed, that's for sure.

It's going to be highly game dependent. I've since tested Shadow of the Tomb Raider and only saw 1-3 fps improvement.

But, yeah, this was a nice surprise having the function brought to Z490. :rockout:

Same with my motherboard, I thought there would be an option for size, but all I get is "auto".

Can't wait for Nvidia to enable it on their drivers thanks again for sharing!
