The only safe ones to call cool are the InteLgrated. Then again, a 4 cilinder 1.3 litre engine never gets hot.

The crimson drivers fixed me some problems like performance in osu! (mixed 3D+video), allowed me to run my old LCD at 75Hz, and I don't know if it's the driver but in the past 960MHz was the best I could get from the GPU, now I'm running 965 with no problems, 970 testing tomorrow or when I have time.

I don't know if my next GPU should be Nvidia or AMD, AMD is the eternal underdog with high power usage and late drivers, and Nvidia has that stupid Physx-only-for-my-own, horrible Gameworks ports, and PAY for G-Sync.
And by far the best one in both Windows and Linux is Intel...

This is funny because this reminds me of when I had amd gpu's so hot. Are amd gpus a fire hazard? Yes

It was a buggy nvidia driver once that killed few fermi cards.

So this picture was made to make fun for both camps.

Everything is fire hazard, even our underwear.

Hotfixes have been released and hopefully will solve the 20% fan speed issue.

I used MSI Afterburner for many years to regulate fan speeds and overclock both AMD and Nvidia video cards. Yes, it is an extra step, however, it gives precise control, supports multiple GPUs, the program is free and you can find guides on YouTube to show you how to use it if you are new to MSI Afterburner.

It is true, some "new" drivers have a negative impact for AMD and Nvidia video cards and have to be rolled back to an older driver. Anyone that has been using both cards for many years can attest to that.

True, my 7600GT needed an old version, 285 I think, to work properly. The "stable" 306 is full of bugs.

To the proposed question, no. Crimson is simply packaging the drivers in a prettier interface.

I haven't yet had any real issues with drivers for Nvidia or AMD. I don't like playing the latest games (cheap bastard in me), I don't do Crossfire/SLI, and thus haven't had many issues. I have had card that vary wildly in relative quality and heat output, but that's largely a function of what money I wanted to put forward at the time. Realistically, I'm a whore.

I don't want to say Crimson is useless, but it's either too late or too early to have it say anything. If Crimson is the first step towards a more proactive GPU team then we need some hardware to prove it. If it's offering a reason to buy the 3xx series it's too late to sway sales. I'm going to say this is at best a reason to care about the future, but not something to be concerned with now.

crimson has some good features like the monitor OCing and the ability to set OC/UC profiles per game. thats been pretty awesome for older games where i can set lower power profiles and keep the fan noise down.

Crimson drivers felt just like traditional drivers. The only thing lately that changed my perception of AMD's drivers was the super cruise bug in Elite: Dangerous which took a whopping 6 months to fix along with a lovely blame game between FD and AMD. Other than that, I've had very few issues with the exception that Crimson drivers seem to like to hold on to memory clocks but not voltages, so overclocking memory with aux voltage with PowerPlay support is simply a no-no as it stands right now.

I really miss the hotkeys for color presets (in Additional Settings). I have a few games where I like to bump up the gamma for certain maps, and now I have to keep the Additional Settings window open instead of just pressing a key combo. Other than that inconvenience, no issues.

I did try the new Frame Rate limiter and it sucked, why would anyone use this? Lots of screen flicker, even if I set it at exactly the monitor refresh rate. Better to just use Vsync or get a Freesync monitor.

The red camp vs green camp feud is just plain stupid. AMD drivers are fine. CCC and Crimson both lack focus though (UI).

AMD's latest Crimson Edition Drivers bring numerous improvements, the most noticeable being the Radeon Settings Control panel.
Has this move affected how you see AMD's drivers in terms of stability and quality?

Why exactly does this poll system here allow me to re-vote every time I reload the page just to throw me error message in after doing so saying "You already voted on this poll." HOW ABOUT SHOWING ME DIRECTLY THE POLL RESULTS when I have already voted?

a year late responding :p. yea no shit bro... and fyi latest recommended drivers are still broken. I still get a reminder everytime i boot to update. I have tried every release including the most recent, but none work. Its a media center computer, so broken DX video acceleration kinda makes it worthless... First card i ever bought new was an ati Rage Pro AGP 8mb. So i'm quite aware of new driver issues on old cards. But AMD keeps telling me "theres new software".... which breaks dx video. Amd needs to stop recommending software at every boot that breaks my media center. "even if it is retired to the bedroom now". so ya , lol.
