I am just to go bay Battlefield 1, but i get concerned when it comes to my old system.

Has any one tried Battlefield on a old X58 system maybe with a I7 920 cpu (mine is OC to 4 GHz)?

How about memory use. I got 12 GB but reccomended says 16 GB?

Can any one comfirm or not support for SLI? My GPU´s are two GTX 970 in sli.

I played the beta, my GPU was the bottleneck by a long shot, max usage of around 80% on CPU and always above 60FPS averaging around 80FPS on high settings.

Yeah but if you have that GTX 670 as stated in your profile. The GPU will for sure be the bottleneck. But it looks like you still got som alright FPS. Gives me hope.

I doubt you will have any problems with BF1 it's really well made and will use all threads of your CPU.

As a battlefield outsider, meaning someone who's only played it a handful of times and never actually played the newest one.... to me it seemed very similar to the third and fourth ones, both graphically ,and sound wise. the running in prticular was almost an exact match.

im certain its likely running on a newer engine, frostbyte 4007, or whatever, but if you could run 3 and 4 im sure you'll be fine...no argument needed, im just pointing out that OP can likely run the newer one if was able to run 4 and 3

I have played BF3 and BF4 on this rig and it runs just fine. But BF1 is a new game and by that properly also more demanding and that is whats my concern is.

i agree it must be more demanding...but to clear up what i was stating...if a PC is able to run BF4 or BF3 at playable FPS, im certain it would be able to run BF1 at close to if not @ playable FPS...thats my point. Yeah you might need to turn a couple settings down, but lets be honest, its not THAT much of a change.its not like going from Majong, or Chess on windows to Fallout 4...its more like Bf3 to Bf4 difference. Ive seen the game in action in its retail form, its got some nicer shadows. nicer grass, and lighting, but those are options that can be reduced.

I see your point. Well then BF1 shut run just fine when but maybe at a bit lower settings.

I wouldn't worry about it as my point I remember my Sandy Ridge platform although a little newer than the X58 crushed any of the current games the only bottle that would be my GPU at the time

yeah, thats why i made that point, if my 2500k could run games fine, im certain you'll be fine. hell, on BF3 i used to turn off 2 cores, just to see how it would do, and it ran well even @ half strength.

enjoy the new game.

Depends, not in dx11 and 64 player - cpu demand is very high in bf1, higher than any other game. I would set it to dx12 will run better, less bottlenecked.

Just a information for everyone: his old cpu needs to feed a cpu heavy game and 2 gtx 970 in sli. Even a 4570k @ 4.2ghz was bottlenecking a 980ti oc. That 920 has to drive about the same gpu rig performance wise but is way slower, over 30% less ipc and 300mhz less core clock.

My 3960x at 4.5ghz was running on 70-90% htt off 64 player just with one 780ti in very high settings btw.

Some people here are way too optimistic it seems.

In the end: just buy and try and generally: overclock it more if you can.

Isn't 64 player (and even conquest 32 player needs more ressources than Rush which is caped at 32 anyway), doesn't change anything about my post. I stated facts (pure data) anyway, not much sense in discussing it. I have evidence on my PC and my friends. Friend is buying a 6/8 core soon because of BF1 (partially and other games too), he's waiting if Zen will be a fail or not and then he'll buy something.

Everytime I see first gen i7 stuff I am instantly reminded if they can do it an 8350 cam since they are about even.

I wouldn't be surprised though, if the 8350 would be better here, BF1 is using a lot of threads, the 8350 can be strong if it's used properly.

I wouldn't call 40-50 fps (at times) playable, but this is debatable.

Also you're way saltier than me, it's not me having a too old CPU. You're sooo defensive boy. Funny tactics, being salty about something and then calling someone else salty, after attacking him and starting a fruitless discussion.

I play 30-60fps at 4k. It's definitely playable lol

Like I said, it's debatable. I wouldn't like it. A shooter with low fps ... too much handicap. I rather take high fps.

It really depends on your goal. I play games to relax and I'm typically drinking a beer while doing so. Depending how many beers I'm in the lower frame rate is no longer a handicap. It actually makes me handicapable

It's okay. I personally play for winning (that's my "fun" in it) and it's easier done with high fps. I'm okay with 1080p too, 4K would just be a bonus for me, same with 1440p.
