I'm just wondering how many of you have returned or RMA'd something just because it didn't overclock well?

I've never returned a part before. I always plan my builds so I use the EXACT amount of cash I have in hand. I never have the money to return things but luckily I've never had to.

I have, I bought a E2160 a while back and couldn't get it to 2.5Ghz, sent it back and got another one and the one I got was able to hit 4.1Ghz.

Nope, I've never returned anything for poor OCing. My P7N didn't OC great, but it had a bunch of PCI-E slots, so I decided it was a keeper

Everything else (except my current Zotac board, which I didn't expect to OC) has OCed admirably.

I am not a hardcore OCer. I accept the fact I get what I paid for. If I get a little more from OCing, then I just consider that a bonus.

My last Corsair died unexpectedly, however my GF bought that from eBay so we couldn't return it so I'm learning how to fix PSUs with it.

I didn't even know that was a valid reason to RMA stuff... Do all etailers take stuff back if it wont OC well?

well i thought the only way you could RMA is if its damaged or DOA.
Perhaps you dropped your motherboard on purpose and then email them going its damaged during arrival? lol

Yup in the UK you can return any item within 14 days for no reason at all : ]

Well we have the Distance Selling Regulations here in the UK, so we don't actually have to specify a valid reason, we can just state that we're not satisfied with the product and that's it.

As long as it's within 7 working days of the day you received it, and bank holidays aren't counted in the days.

As for my RMAing history, I've only ever RMAed my old 3870X2, but it was faulty not because it wouldn't overclock well.

There are ways and means of sending things back on RMA. sometimes they are not faulty but about 10 mins before i post them, they always go 'faulty'

I know what you mean, I think alot of people do that

I just got a couple 5870's for my new pc and one of them dosen't overclock period, it gets like 10 mhz over stock and nothing else, the other ones get at least 150 over stock each so this one might be going home soon

I have once with a E7200 processor. It was stable at stock clocks, however it didn't want to overclock anything over 100mhz. Since I needed to overclock it a bit more so my RAM would run at it's correct frequency, I RMA'd the chip. Got a much better chip in return.

I sold my E2200 because I couldn't get more than 2.9ghz out of it. Didn't return it.. Just swapped it for a E7200.
