Hello,

I have my PC connected to LCD TV which supports full 1080p. When I try to watch movie (Avatar 1080p) I get some shuttering, video is not as smooth as it should be. 720p media works fine though. I use VLC player for this MKV file. So is my PC not powerful enough or am I using wrong player or the movie itself might be riped with errors? I could not test the last part yet because it takes some time to download 11 GB. Thanks.

Check with gpu-z if the core and memory speeds are fluctuating or constantly the same. I had some issues with speeds changing due to lousy vbios. Now I just use AtiTrayTools to control clocks.

Well I was suspicious about that clock speed fluctuation (for example when PC is idle clock speed is 500 MHz and when plying media or browsing the web it rises up to 750) but I think it is normal due to energy saving mode or something like that. And yes I've been experimenting with VGA BIOS flashing but only what concerns fan settings. 720p media works fine by the way and i haven't tested another 1080 media file. So u say this might be the cause? Any solution for this? And what ati tray tool can do what CCC can not?

Try using MPC (K Lite), i once had an issue with VLC, but that was an audio issue. But it might work with MPC so give it a try.

You mean Media Player Classic? Sure I'll give it a try.

It could be that the clocks set for 2D or media in the bios are too low for 1080p (shouldn't be though). And yes it's normal energy saving, but at least my cards were changing like every second and causing problems with video.

With ATT it's easy to create different oc (or underclock) profiles with fan settings, which can be assigned to different programs.

I have for example the following (core/mem):

2D 550/200
Media 450/500
3D 750/900
3D OC 800/1000

I use different profiles for different apps. Sometimes "Media" for low end games etc. No harm trying.

Can ATI tray tool coexist with CCC at the same time or will I be experiencing compatibility issues? And thanks for the info anyways...

Yes they can co-excist, no comp issues should arise. Get the latest here. And on Win XP it works like a charm, on 7 you have to approve security warnings every time.

What do you mean by not being able to test the last part? If you havnt downloaded 100% of the file any/if not all of the movie will stutter and be wacky.

You could also try enabling GPU acceleration in the VLC Player settings.

I mean that I only tried playing one 1080p movie and maybe it has some riping errors that gives the shuttering. I would like to download another 1080p movie to compare. 1080p movies usually contain more than 10GB so it takes time to download....
