Hi folks!
I have a reference design HD 4870 512MB and it play most games that I throw at it at the right settings. One thing that have me worried for a few weeks is the GPU temperature sensors on GPU-Z:
As you can see, temps of Shader Core are ten degress higher than DiplayIO temps. More worrying is the Memory controller temps at 108.5 degrees. Is it okay to be this much difference around different areas of the die? these temps are as such because I had fan at 28%. If I put the fan at 34% (2200 RPM) the noise is very noticeable, DISPIO drops to 70, SHADERCORE to 82, and MEMIO to 96.
I also have done some modifications to BIOS clock setting so now it drops the core clock to 250 at idle. And I found that I could lower the 3D clocks on this from 1.263 to 1.163.
Also I think the card has good quality TIM because temps don't jump around, they take a while to go higher or drop down and adjusting the fan speed helps with temps to really cool the card. besides with it's own fan speed profile, it heats up to about the same temperatures as the reviews said it would. Idle around 75-80, Load 85-90.
Any Ideas/thoughts?
