Now is a good time CF those cards. Youll get some pretty good performance out of it. Microstutter really isnt an issue these days. As for flickering, that also shouldnt happen unless the hardware is messed up somehow.
So if you can get another one cheap enough, do it, you wont regret it.

I've got my 5950s in Xfire and have experienced nary an issue.
In my books, go for it I say :)

Or .. save up & get a 7970, pay through the nose & get slightly better performance ;)

Ur system Specs shows u have Hd5850 CF .

U face any problem like microstuttring, flickering ,driver issues ? Is my X6 1090t bottleneck to 5850 CF ?

working great for me, with VERY similar specs to yours. most problems are ironed out, with just the odd problem when a new games comes out, delays until drivers catch up. the new CCC with crossfire profiles selection should help there.

only concern is your PSU if any overclocking is done. run with Vsync on to lower power consumption, and look at upgrading later.

Crossfire all the way and save your money. Then if anything upgrade to the newer HD 8900 series in about a years time or more. Skip the HD 7900 this time round. IMO...

stick with corsair for sure, on the PSU.

tips? update drivers regularly. crossfires been smooth sailing for me, with the exception of how long it took skyrim to get crossfire support (then again, it was CPU limited until 1.4 patch anyway)

Personally, like others have been saying, I'm very happy with my crossfireX performance. I can afford to upgrade to a 7970, but I just don't see the need right now.

The TX or HX750 will handle your system with OC'ing and crossfireX 5850 cards

I wasn't suggesting for you to get a 7970. I was merely saying that I have the means to upgrade to a 7970, but I feel it would be a waste of money considering the performance I'm getting from my two 5870 cards.

Not really, turn the fans up to around 50% when gaming and all is good.

little bit, but I use headphones so it doesn't affect me. Heck, I could turn the fans up to 100%(sounds like two vacumn cleaners) and I'd still be ok. About the 45% mark is where the noise starts to get noticably louder, so 50% isn't that bad.

any corsair 550W or above should handle 5850 crossfire, if you can afford it grab something like the 750W TX2. it'll last for years, as will the warranty.

skyrim does work in crossfire now, has for a month or two.

Heat shouldnt be an issue either. However, I highly recommend you download MSI Afterburner and set up a cooling profile. The stock ones in the cards BIOS usually is pretty bad.
With afterburner I set up a profile on my old 4870's in CF that kept them below 75C regardless of ambient. And 4870's run WAY hotter than the 58xx series.

as others have said ,go with it , its a relatively cheap upgrade for good performance and it works well when used with well refined cards ie older and now better optimised:)

My HD5850 CF seems to run about +35% faster with similar high settings + 2xMSAA in Battlefield3 1920x1080p than my friends HD6950. Keeping in the 50-60fps range most of the game.
Disadvantages are:
Temperature / noise. (Msi Afterburner fan profile needed.) My first primary card runs 20ºC hotter, in bf3 (1st / 2nd card) +80ºC / 60ºC. Taking the fan of the 1st card way up to noisy 60%.
Airflow in your pc-case must be optimal.
3D game output cloned to more than 1 display does not work anymore. Desktop and movies do work (not a bug, just the way it is).
Overclocking with overdrive or MSI Afterburner results in 2nd monitor flickering.
Sometimes the second card stays at low clockspeed needing to restart pc.
I got a bf3 bug where crossfire and a realtek alc8xx sound was locking the whole pc needing hard reboot of my system. (Shut onboard sound off and buy another sound card.)
Also turmed HT off for my i7 860 becouse of strange fps drops in bf3 (seems like micro stutter)

Advantages:
You can get a second "used" card for under € 100,- and get performance similar to buying a card that costs about € 200-300. That is similar!!! A big improvement will cost you much more than that.
:rockout:
