Going forum to forum wondering if anyone could explain why I'm getting such high temps on my card.

This is under load while running Furmark Extreme Burn-in mode.

Because you are running furmark? No game is gonna make as much heat. And I can see that your card is throttling becuase of it(spikes in VDDC).

Heavily overclocked and in case without a lot of fresh air?

Yes, the poor thing is throttling.
I'm just wondering if this is normal.
The card has decent airflow and fans are at max speed while gaming.

Yes, normal..the throttle makes sure you don't kill the card.

That's kind of disappointing... I guess I'll have to install a waterblock on there. :(
Why did AMD have to place them right underneath the fan. :(

I'm sure that at stock, they would not get so hot, and again, you're running furmark overclocked..not such a good idea, really.

You have have already killed the VRM cooling...they are covered by a thin white strip of paste pressed into a fabric...the paste can dry out, and won't be as effective as it should be when a bit "wet".

Any way to replace the paste? I guess I'd have to buy a different heat pad.

No way to replace, unless using a totally different type of pad. I've tried to find the same stuff, and could not...

Could be fine...should hit about 90C or less @ stock(which is perfectly safe)...going over 110c is not recommended though, IMHO.

Issue is that it needs pads because each phase may not be the exact same height due to variances in assembly.

But at the same time, you should not be able to do any real permanent damage to the card itself...or so they say.

I'd downclock until you get no throttle..and then go a little bit less, to be 100% SAFE.

Issue at hand is that GDDR5 error correction is enabled, so you may not even see artifacts when you first push that bit too far. Clocking these cards has become increasingly difficult becuase of that..you really need to watch performance, as well as temps.
