HI! just read your thread here.
I have the MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 OC in my system.

Looks like GPU-Z 5.0 makes a .bin file named BARTS.
BIOS version 013.006.000.009.038722

Have to use WinZip to upload file to techpowerup.

you'll have to use some Utility BIOS program likely from AMD to re-flash the card.

Good Luck

using MSI Afterburner I preset the Fan Speed on a Scale setting ..example: 40*c = 35% fan speed, 45*c= 40%, 60*c = 52%, 65*c = 57%, and 70c = 62%.

IDLE : 37 - 39*c depending on room temperature .. normally for me since Winter time is kept at 72-74 degees Farhenheit indoor temperature.

LOAD: (based on 15 minutes @95-99%) : 64 -67*c been tops..never had 70*c plus temps yet. This is using Alien vs Preditor benchmark, Unigine Heaven 2.1 , 3DMark 2011 and
3DMark Vantage, Tom Clancy HAWX 2 benchmark. Only game I own and play is World of Warcraft which is not 3D demanding.

Fan noise barely noticable @ 60% , have not had anything boosting Fan Speed above 70% so can't tell ya much. But like any other Video Card unit running 80-100% it will be loud.
But I would expect the MSI Frozr II to be less noisy escpecially when I said 60% or less hardly noticable.

Note: if you have more than 1 Monitor connected.. the Temps will be higher .. think of an electrical outlet .. you are placing a larger load therefore more strain/ demand. I only have 1 -24inch LCD monitor via DVI.

thank you, i own the MSI radeon 6870 reference. has about 5 degrees more than the twin frozr one but is very noisy. Anything above 25 % is very noisy. At 25 is barely audible.
