when the 8800gt 256mb comes out, the 3870 will be worth less since the 256 gt's are better than 3870 at 1680x1050 for the most part

It's just business. I bet they (HD3000 series) are probably selling like hot cakes. When you know something is selling, you might as well try to take advantage of the situation and make as much off of them as you can, when you can.

I was going to post the link I had for them on Dell, which were selling for around $226 after their "instant" discount. But when I went to get the link, I found out the discount was over, and they are now running as high as $309!!!!

Let's just hope that news story posted this week that there will be price drops on them coming soon - although I don't see that happening if nobody can keep them in stock... :(

Yeah... they are pretty bad about this fact... remember the release of Barcelona? The $300 CPU was about $700.
