So I'm gonna go ahead and get a couple hd4850's, but rather than have the surface of the sun as a gpu, I really want to keep them cool. I read that any cooler that fits the hd3870's will also fit the 4850 & 4870, so I landed on the CL-G0102 as a realistic aftermarket cooling option. They're like 35 bucks a peice at newegg right now, and product reviews state that people were successfull with installations onto 3870's.
So for $450 it would be two 4850's, and two Thermaltake DuOrbs. From another review, I read that the DuOrb brought an 8800gts down from (idle/load) 67/81 to 45/67. 67/81 sounds about the same as one of these 4850's...
So what do yall think? Sound practical? Combined with the stock VRM heatsink I think overclocking headroom will be decent (once dynamic voltage control is available.)
