I had a HD die on me, and it's a very sad day :(
The only problem is I have a lot of important information on it (500GB) relating to work, as well as many of my portfolio pictures saved.
I've tried all different connections, and the drive doesn't even start up.
I've come to the conclusion it's the circuit board.

I'm asking TPU if they have or can locate an exact copy of my HD, or it's circuit board, Im going to swap them.

WD Caviar SE16
WD5000AAKS-00YGAO

[500 GB HD].

Also will ANY WD5000AAKS work? Because I heard only matching firmware will.
I'm looking at

but am really unsure :/

Thank you all very much =]

If the data is that crucial you may want to consider sending it to a data recovery service before you fiddle with it and possibly make the data harder to recover. Use of the companies in this link do not void the Western Digital warranty if you follow the instructions provided.

^+1. If the info is business related and important enough, data recovery companies have a very high success rate.

You could try to RMA it to western digital and ask them to swap the circuit board if you are postive it is that, check if it is in warranty and then ask them if they could look at it and swap if necessary (plus it would be cheaper for them to just swap the board then the entire drive)
