Hey guys.

I will have my new Sennheiser HD 595 sometime in 2 weeks and I believe I need an amp to get the best out of them?

What can I get that will make full use of these HD 595s??

Thanks for suggestions.

Hearing Aids!!! Just kidding, I've never heard of headphone amplifiers, kind of curious now.

What is your budget?

You could use an older home theater amp to drive those headphones (fairly easy to drive) probobly be able to get a decent one for ~$40-60. And really the price goes up exponentially from there... for an average dedicated headphone amp expect to pay $250-600 depending on what you need/want out of it.

The HD595s are fairly easy to drive so the benefit of having a dedicated amplifier for them is marginal. Just hook them up to your Prelude and be happy that you have a good source for them. I doubt you will be able to hear the difference between straight out of the Prelude or Prelude -> Amp -> HD595.

I'm always having to turn the volume all the way up its maximum on my HD 600's, when using in collaboration with my G500's.

Is there an amp that won't cost me the price of the headphones themselves?

Thanks for the comments guys.

I really expected a sound card to be enough to push them but the price of some of the headphone amps are a joke!
I am not going to buy a big expensive amp!

I will buy the headset first and see how things are. Then I will think about buying an amp. I was checking the Q2 amps already and they are much more affordable but still pricey tho. I will probably pickk one up on ebay as komplett.ie don't seem to sell any amps.

here is one on ebay:

Should I consider buying one of these??

I will be hooking them up to my PC. I do have a mini MP4 player 8gb touch screen that I use when sleeping. That little amp looks great and cheap for my MP4 player!

But I will mostly need an AMP for my PC for music, movies and gaming.
