I've been using skype for a long time now. Recently I have some trouble with the audio giving input to the microphone directly.

I'm using a headset so my friends on skype shouldn't hear the sound coming out of my computer. What happens is when I'm speaking with friends they are hearing whatever is playing in my computer much louder then I'm hearing. In order to speak I'm playing games and watching videos w/o sound. I have checked the cables and they are in their respectful places. My motherboard has 2 access points for microphone and 1 of them has stopped working. The other one seems to work but it has the above problem.

What would solve my problem? Getting another motherboard or sound card.or maybe it is some kind of software problem.

Have you checked the sound control panel? And make sure that you're not recording anything other than your mic?

I'm not recording anything, so I dont really understand what you mean. I've checked the control panel and disabled and enabled some of the stuff. No luck in there.

As in an option to see what the "audio in" is because it looks as if the sound from your apps is being picked up as "audio in"

Thanks AKlass, apparently line volume was not muted. Checked mute all and my problem is solved
