Hi,

I flashed my HD4850 BIOS after extracting it with GPU-Z and editing the idle clock/memory speeds with RBE. I then used Winflash (big mistake, I know now) to flash the 4850 bios.

Reboot, and card won't post. I put atiflash and the original BIOS onto a bootable USB drive, and put in an old PCI video card to flash the BIOS back.

When I do 'atiflash -i', it spits back, Adapter not found. I also tried 'flashrom -i', which gives me, ATI video adapter not found.

Any ideas?... :banghead:

I would say boot into windows with the PCI card and see if winflash will find the card, if not, try returning it where you bought it.

Killing a card by flashing will not fall under warranty.

But indeed you cna try booting with a PCI card to dos or windows and use Flasrom/Winflash.

no that article is only for the 4870 with GDDR5 which has been flashed with a <128k BIOS.

try in another pc if atiflash finds the card. telling us more about your motherboard for example would help.

My board is a p5b-deluxe.

I've tried booting into Windows with a Geforce 2 PCI card and then running Winflash, but it doesn't run... it just exits immediately.

I'm at a loss... would I need to boot from a second ATI video card in order to use Winflash without it dying right away? Because that's what it's doing with nvidia cards.

that is a possibility that winflash doesnt like nvidia cards in the system.

winflash accepts the same command line parameters as atiflash under dos. so open a command window, go to the winflash directory and do something like atiwinflash -i

maybe it works..
