Hi, good people

I haven't bought a new PC since 2007, just some updates here and there after that.
My PC was great at the time, today is a gigantic piece of...

CPU: Core2Duo E6600
Motherboard: Asrock G41C-GS (at the time of buy was an Asus something)
RAM: G.Skill 4gb DDR3
GPU: IPGU from the Asrock (i bought a Geforce 8500 GT, it was great...until 2011 or something. I used to be a gamer )
HDD: Hitashi 300Gb
OS: Windows Xp
Case: Deepcool Tesseract (it was used to be Thermaltake Soprano)

And....15 years later...it still works. Both the CPU and HDD still going strong.
Now, on the verge of getting a new PC and return from the dark ages.

I already have some components, my question is about the rest of them.
I have:
Case: Lian Li Lancool 2 Mesh RGB
PSU: Corsair RM750x
SSD: Gigabyte Aorus 500gb NVMe Gen 4 (for OS and stuff)
HDD: Toshiba P300 3Tb (for storage and stuff)
Monitor: Samsung LS22F 1080p (yes, i know it's not a good gaming monitor, but i also didn't bought it. The monitor i had before was a Samsung 940bw, which was great but only 900p. I'll think on getting a new monitor at a later date)

As for the rest, my idea is:
CPU: I5-12400 (i have no interest in OC)
RAM: 16gb DD4 (on the fence between Crucial and Corsair, but the cheaper then better and still keeping quality. RGB is irrelevant, unless it's cheap)
Motherboard: Asus Tuf Gaming B660-Plus D4
SSD: another one, this time for games (i'm thinking either a NVMe P5 Plus 1TB (120€) or SATA MX500 1TB (100€). The NVMe is always better and the price difference is minimal, but it's the last M.2 connection i have on the motherboard and i was thinking about 2TB, but the prices say no. So, i thought maybe a SATA and buy a NVMe at a later date)
GPU: I'm not going to buy one at this time, i'll wait a few more months, but the idea is a RTX 3060 Ti)
Fans: I'm thinking of getting 1 or 2 additional. The reason being that the Lian Li has 3 fans at the front, and i'll need 1 for exhaust. The question is, either i get only one and put at the rear or top, over the CPU. Or i get two, one for the rear and one at the top and be done with it).
OS: Windows 10 pro (i find no reason for Windows 11 at the time, even more when the update for it is free)
CPU Cooler:................that's the big question. My first idea was a dual fan cooler, but i everywhere i look they all talk about PCIe/RAM clearance, and they all end on being too big. So, i'm going for a single fan, but still haven't really found which due to, once again, clearance. All i know it's that it needs to be a tower and not downdraft. I know that the I5-12400 comes with a cooler, but everywhere i read they all say it's garbage.

BTW, i'm from Portugal and my budget is 1200€ give or take (the less the better).
Use for the PC....games (heavy gamer, all maxed out, but on the single player side, i don't care much for online), online and watching movies/tv shows/youtube...

So, what do you think and what can you advice me about the stuff i'm on the fence about?

The build you’re planning seems fine, I didn’t read everything though. 12400 is solid and best value.

If you’re gonna wait a few months to buy GPU anyway, then you should wait and buy next gen GPU instead.

I would get the 12700, it's 12 cores vs 6 for really not that much more.
You don't need to worry about an exhaust fan, just get a tower cooler like the Noctua U12a, which exhausts anyway if you orient it right, or just take one of the two cooler fans and use it for exhaust.

I believe the Lian Li Lancool II Mesh RGB accommodates 2x140mm fans on the top (I have the Mesh Performance version -- no RGB). I'd put one 140mm exhaust fan on top and one 120mm on the rear. If your budget only allows one, I suggest the 140mm top fan toward the back of the case since that's where most of the heat is being generated anyhow.

As dgianstefani mentions, you can point the tower cooler fan(s) toward the rear exhaust vent.

As you upgrade the components, you can add more fans.

I like your build, but the processor can get a little hot. Strongly consider a correct height AIO cooler. Waiting for a GPU is a brilliant move. When etherium switches proof of stake, the market will be temporarily flooded with used GPUs. You could get an even better one than you planned.
