Hi guys,
Been having a huge problem for the last two months now -- and it's really beginning to frustrate me to no end!!
From my 1080Ti to my 4k Sony TV I have ALWAYS (in the past) been able to get 4k at 60HZ, even with max colour settings & HDR.
However for the last month my Sony 4k Android TV will not pick up a signal as soon as I increase the refresh rate over 30HZ. (TV runs on the Android operating system a bit like a modern smart phone) .
--------
What does work:
TV HDMI signal set to "standard" (in TV's settings, not windows or any PC settings):
-1080p 60hz
-4k but only up to 30hz
TV HDMI Signal set to "enhanced": (in TV settings)....:
-1080p 60hz only
-------------
For a start-- the above seems back-to-front.
I should be able to set the HDMI signal format on TV to "enhanced". Then in Windows set resolution to 3840 x 2160 @60hz and there should be no issues. But I'm having no luck
I don't get a picture.
Here's what I've tried so far:
1) Replacing the HDMI cable with a brand new one (the new one is HDMI 2.0 certified and can do 4k at 60hz). (from cables.co.uk)
2) Ensuring TV's HDMI signal is set to "advanced" and not "standard" format. <-- with "enhanced" I can't even get 4k 30hz (TV signal format needs to be on 'standard' even just to get 30hz at 4k).
3) Uninstalling ALL Nvidia, AMD & Intel GPU drivers using the "DDU" utility. (as posted on EVGA support forums). Rebooting, then re-installing only the Nvidia software/drivers.
4) Running a full in-depth virus scan using the latest edition of AVG & running a full Windows Defender scan.
5) Resetting TV back to factory defaults. (this does not remove updates received by the TV - which is currently on version 6.0.1 and is reporting as fully up to date & no new updates are currently available).
6) Checked that intel's iGPU is disabled in system BIOS. (and confirming this by checking in Windows that it's not displayed in GPU-Z -- which it isn't)!
7) Tried HDMI ports 1 & 2 on TV (there are 4). (despite the fact the TV settings give option for "standard" and "enhanced" for ALL ports)
8) Tried setting the TV as the "primary" display device. & tried disconnecting my monitor.
Note: I do have an older AMD Radeon HD 6950 installed. But as mentioned above I uninstalled it (not physically). It was only re-installed automatically from Microsoft Update as part of boot process after I exited safe-mode. (I performed the clean uninstalls with DDU in safe-mode). I also currently have NO displays attached to the AMD card. I have no issues on my 2560 x 1440p monitor.
Please help. I am at a total loss.
Thanks,
Nick Peyton
