Hey guys

So I loved my Rapoo V8, but it died twice and now it is out of warranty so it is unfortunately time to change. I loved that mouse :(

As you can see, there are the right middle and left click as well as a few side buttons there (4), a DPI button, and a change profile button (to change what the 4 buttons do), and I can also use the tilt of my middle mouse This gives me up to 13 possibilities. I loved it, and I also liked where the buttons were placed.

I am left-handed, but unlike most left-handed people, I could not learn to use my mouse with my right hand because it is handicapped. Because of this handicap, my right hand is not very fast on the keyboard either, so I need button there for commands I need quickly (depending on the game, this could mean jump, reload, crouch etc). The problem with side buttons is that it is often to the left, and using my pinky or the side of my ring finger is hard.

I kinda like the CM inferno:

Now I see to also like the ROCCAT KOVA + mouse. Still, I would like to see a mouse close to my RAPOO V8 or V3

But I was hoping you guys could make a better suggestion for my needs. I do not mind wired

I notice that those are wireless mice. If you are fine with wired mice, then I recommend either SteelSeries Xai, or Sensei if you can get the Sensei cheaper. Both mice support left-handed players, and there are two buttons on both sides.

I do not mid wired mouses. Thank you for the response, however I find the but I find the SteelSeries mice to not have enough buttons for my liking. At least 4 easily accessibly buttons is ideally what I am looking for ideally (The steelseries have 2 easily accessible and 2 that are somewhat accessible). I'd still prefer the layout of the CM inferno over the SS Xai or Sensei

Any other suggestion is welcome as I need to choose a mouse fast

The major selling point for the Kova+ is the shift feature. Due to your limitations, I thought the macro software that came with this may really be of interest;)

I saw the Kone + and it looks way worse then the Kova but 2x the price? lol

What's the shift feature? Oh you mean like the Rapoo where there is a 2nd profile?

EDIT: awww man I thought where the LEDs were in the top left/right were buttons but they are not *facepalm*

the back button is the "shift" much like a keyboard. If its pressed it now allows for all the keys on the mouse to have double duty depending on what you assign to them. Also the software has a timing system built into it for creating your own macros with delays to allow time between each command in the series.

Also the mouse has 5 profile slots now that you ask, not to mention a full list of current and popular games withmacros setups already there for you to use as is or modify.

LEDs on the front of the Kova+ are on the tabs for the buttons;) its all one piece for the top.

it it has 2 set of 2 thumb buttons, one of which for a profile switch correct? So a 4+4 (up to +4 4 more times) extra button set (the 3 side buttons + middle click)

Is the scroll wheel capable of tilting left/right? If so, is that also included in the profiles?

all buttons are reprogramable to fit your needs, you chose the shift buton, then the rest of the right, left, mouse up, down, and the other three side buttons can hold dual functions. If that made any sense at all.

Image to save words;) I'm sorry scroll does up down and click, no side motion.

I realize now how well the Rapoo mouse fitted my needs lol, no other is like it :( I could have a 9+9 profile with it (but I usually left the left n right buttons alone so it was 9+7).

I might go ahead with the Rapoo V3 (V8 minus wireless), but was VERY disappointed with the reliability of the chinese brand Rapoo and the Customer service was NON-existant. And I was complaining that the Rapoo didn't have side buttons LOL (I wanted to do 13+ 11 lol)

I have to admit that the KOVA + is the best alternative yet

EDIT: Damn, I can't find the Rapoo V3 anywhere in canada :/

I'm assuming you have already looked at the RAT series, if you haven't, I highly recommend them. The RAT 7 and 9 that is, a bit more $ if you want wireless.

But it has 3 palm rests to chose from, one with a rubber like grip, 1 lower down, and one higher up (rubber one is taller than the normal tall one). 3 pinky rests, 2 that just go with the side of the mouse, and one that is an actual pinky rest. Then the thumb rest moves backwards/forwards and in/out. Also the palm rest can extend out for those with longer hands.

It has 2 thumb buttons, and a thumb scroll wheel. Also a sniper button if you enjoy FPS (it temporarily drops your DPI). And it has 3 profile mods you can switch on the fly, so you could run numerous hotkey assignments, just on different profiles and switch the profile as you go.

The mouse quality is high, it's built on a metal frame. And I hate to say this, but my son accidentally spilled a can of mt dew right onto my mouse (a lot of it, went inside the mouse and everything). I didn't know about it right away either, when I found it the mouse showed no power. I unplugged it and let it sit, I could see wet marks under the buttons, but running water through it wouldn't help clean out sticky pop. So I let it sit for a while, cleaned up the outside, then tried it the next day, and it worked. Been using it since then, one of my DPI settings lights doesn't work anymore, but beyond that it functions the same, even after digesting a can of Mt Dew. Very impressive. Also it looks great sitting on the mouse pad, only mouse I have ever had people notice it and actually compliment how good it looks just sitting there.

Heres the Software that comes with it as well.

**EDIT**
Sorry deleted top post, didn't think it posted. Yeah no way you would want to use this mouse as a lefty. I think your best bet is too look to Razer mice if you are south paw, ambidextrous mice have always been their bag.

**Double Edit**
Tried it lefty, it actually might work. But hitting those left side hotkeys and scroll wheel with your pinky wouldn't be the easiest. Though maybe you are use to that, I haven't ever used my pinky to hit hotkeys, but I assume as a lefty you have to get use to that. It's really weird gripping it this way, I have the massive pinky grip on and it tilts up on the back side of that grip to meet your pinky. It works pretty well if your thumb is on that side surprisingly. But you could axe that pinky grip and swap on one that fits the contour of the mouse if you didn't like it. With a bit of playing around it seems you could rest your pinky across the 2 thumb buttons easily, the scroll wheel might be hard to hit though.

Heres a picture of my hand on it lefty, and heres a picture of normally the pinky side, but would be the thumb side for you, with the large rest attached.

Yea but I need the extra buttons lol, as I said, my right hand is handicapped, so I need to compensate with my left hand

As of right now, I have to sometimes let go of my mouse to press a button on the keyboard as that is faster than my right hand pressing the button

P.S: could you URL those images as they aren't relevant to me? thanks :p And thanks for the 2nd edit pics :) but I think imana stay away from RAT lol

I think you should go for that Kova, when I was looking at the UI he linked (because I have been interested in those before) I though, "lame, pinky buttons, my pinky isn't very coordinated". But those would be thumb buttons for you, which would be perfect, haven't seen many mice with buttons on that side.

The only mouse that comes close to my reqs so far is the ROCCAT :/ I've had to learn to use pinky buttons but it is hard lol.

I would so love a left handed NAGA LOL

I say buy a naga, open it up, cut a hole in the other side, and do some soldering work to move that thumb pad. Then fiberglass over the massive hold on the normal side. If I was in your spot, I would look to do something like that, would make life much better. Might have to do a bit of fiberglass work on the right side of the mouse to make the contour match the keypad since normally that side has a pinky rest.

I have absolutely no tools, and for the price of the tools + time + mouse price, I could probably buy a kid from some 3rd world country to press my keyboard buttons LOL

I also am so-so in handy work, so I'd end up breaking 5 mouses at least

I have absolutely no tools, and for the price of the tools + time + mouse price, I could probably buy a kid from some 3rd world country to press my keyboard buttons LOL

I also am so-so in handy work, so I'd end up breaking 5 mouses at least

Breaking things is the price of learning. I've self taught myself many things, and lots of the time the learning process is a bit painful, but it pays off later. I still think you should try to make the perfect mouse for oyu. But if the thought is a bit scary, buy a mouse you think you will be happy with now, then buy a Naga and tinker with it on the back burner. Fiberglassing on a small scale like that won't be too hard. And if that thumbpad is hooked up by wires, it would be extremely easy to move, just extend wires and find a new way to bolt it in there.

Sadly, I can't really commit to a project like that while in University lol. I can perhaps try during Summer, but I would need to buy the tools and the mice, in which case hiring you to do it would probably be cheaper lol

Good company, hotkeys on both sides, ambidextrous, looks like it would be a great mouse for you.

I'm really sad I am left-handed :/ so many mice that fit my needs like SteelSeries World of warcraft Cataclysm one or the Naga or even some of the standard high-end mice

Can anyone tell me if they'd pay 50$ for the G300? The weird placement of the sensor, simple USB cord etc makes me a little less happy to go buy that mouse

The right side is supposed to be DPI UP/Down, can anyone confirm me that you can ghange that to whatever you like? and what are the 2 buttons below the wheel for? and just wanna make sure but there is a middle click right?
