Ok so I am looking for a back up program that I can try then buy that allows me to back up a files to an external hard drive as well as to a remote computer such as Crash plan

Thing is there are so many that offer free backups and cant do what I want them to do.

I need my back up files to be backed up and be able to use them if I unplug the hard drive and plug it in on another windows based pc. Similar to what Syncback SE does it backs up files and you can still see the same file on the back up. No compression/encryption or file broken into smaller files that I cant access unless I reinstall the back up software.

So with that said does anybody know what software can do what I want and yet allow me to back up to another computer like crashplan and still be able to see my files without installing the back up software in order to restore.

Key thing here is that I want an excel file to get backed up and be able to see the excel file on the external HDD/remote pc thus if the files gets sent to pc2 from pc1, pc2 can see the file and use right then and there.

Hope this makes sense.

Sounds like you want to create a copy of a file on (in your example) PC2 as an exact copy of the original upon accessing it via home LAN or remote external acess. Is that right?

The The Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex. I bought an external Free Agent 500 Gb drive and it has a small back up program (Free Agent) that you can schedule or manually back up folders. Then you can use that drive to access those files on any computer. It works great

As far as backing up data to the web so you can access that anywhere

why dont you do something like share a folder on PC3

then what you do is map that drive. with PC1 and PC2 then you tell soemthing like the free western digital or seagate programs and create an image and save it to that folder (which is a link to the PC3 HDD)

Help choosing backup software

It seems that you are looking for file sync application as well as a backup application.

I want to suggest you the SyncBlaze application which suites your requirement.

Using SyncBlaze, you can synchronize your data from one system to multiple system. For this, you just to create an account and install SyncBlaze agent in the first system. Then, you can install the SyncBlaze agent in the systems, where you want to synchronize your data & login using the same login data.

Also, as your data is stored in the online storage, you can access your data online without even installing the SyncBlaze agent in the system. You can also download your data from your online account anywhere.

Just try it out today!

if it's only a simple copy of your data, scheduled task + .bat running Robocopy /MIR, works great.. Copying to a shared folder, that's it.. or synctoy..
