So you are saying that I imagined the performance drop? All I know is that it was fine before I installed the D_K drivers, after I installed them I noticed COD4 performing like crap. I uninstalled the drivers and everything went back to normal.

I didn't imagine it. I got quite pissed off when I noticed such a huge impact that it had. Not sure what it was, can't really pinpoint the blame but the only variable was his drivers. Fine before, bad during, fine after. So that's why I stand by my statement. If others don't experience this then good for them. I'm just putting up a warning that you might have a problem using them and they are not supported by Creative Labs.

oh but you're talking personal opinion... heaps of other people download them without problems, so this must all be on your end. you must have imagined it since no one else reported the issue.

Yes i am trolling. I am treating you like you treat everyone else on this forum. Cant you just shut up for once and accept that the problems and experiences you have, do not dictate how the world is for everyone else?

Get over your ego problems. please. this thread is not about you, daniel K's drivers, or call of duty 4.

No, I'm not saying you imagined it. In fact, I quite believe you. I'm merely saying it sounds like a conflict, and not the normal result of using D_K drivers. I also intended to suggest, that if you like the features offered by the drivers, maybe you could look into what caused the problem, and correct it.

There wasn't a problem before or after the drivers so that's where I narrow the problem down to. I'm sure there was something wrong and not sure if it's normal or not. But D_K has time to improve them (or so I hope) so you never know.

Nobody is arguing here, we're having a conversation. You can unsubscribe from your own thread if you want to really.

It enhances sound and the gaming experience gives you an advantage over non eax users you can hear alot more footsteps breathe weapon reloads etc etc... it helps in first person shooters like counterstrike source cod4 operation flashpoint armed assault loads really even non eax games do sound better with it enabled.

For instance operation flashpoint resistance addon suppose to dissable eax unlike the previous release but it still actually worked for me.Best way to make use of eax as an advantage is with a stereo headset.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EAX

no, it dosnt let u hear more footsteps, it adds move "voices" this can add bird sounds and shit, BUT the problem is that once u get above XX number of voices the human ear cant prosess the sound and it just becomes a jumble of noise, like being in a commic convention and trying to pick out indivitual voices when ur in the middle of a noisy crowd......

god i wish you creative/eax people acctualy knew what u where talking about insted of just regruratating marketing points from creative.......

dang, yes. sadly it is a software model.

It WILL sound better than onboard audio, but how it sounds is all it has going for it - it doesnt have any of the other features which may have appealed.

at wile e: its entirely possible, daniels drivers arent perfect. i have two SB live cards, one works perfect with his drivers, the other needs a reninstall every 2-3 days, and often says the card is incompatible. His drivers work perfectly on some cards, but not others even of the same model.

This is likely true for HIM, but not for everybody, i have an audigy2 here someplace, i have comared it, my sblive 5.1 gamer plat, and the onboard sound on 3 diffrent boards i have had, in every case once i updated the drivers the onboard sound was no worse then the addin cards, BUT the boards tested where/are ones that dont have noise from coils and such intruding on the onboard audios quility.

i just looked he has onboard sound on a cheap CHEAP ECS board, thats pretty much why his onboard sound sucks........

my exp with cmi 9661a(ac97 5.1) as well as the ADI 1989(think thats whats on asus boards), and the current 2 realtek HD audio chips is that as long as you update the driver to ones made in the last 6 months you wont have to many problems, and as long as the boards not a POS you will have good/decent sound quility :)

as to your choice, i would have gone with a cmedia chipset personaly, as i know their driver supports far better then creatives.

no u where busy flaming WileE :p

creative could make proper audio drivers for their cards but they artificialy cripple them, read danialK's news artical (google for it) they intentionaly made their own cards useless under vista and even xp in some ways to force ppl to buy their latist cards that in reality are even useless under vista :p

I don't recall flaming Wile E at all in this thread. Can you point it out?

I know that Creative did that to force people to upgrade. Now they have their new cards coming out soon. It's just too funny.

Wise choice IMO. VIA Envy24 chipset. :respect:
