It could be that the stock tim is giving up.. or not seated right..

I'd check on seating.. then if anything cleaning the heatsink, applying tim, and go from there.

The cooler that your looking at is pretty good one. Great for the price.. Should help you out quite a bit.

proper English helps! Try seeing if the heatsink is seated right, check if the fan is running, try cleaning the dust out of your case, replace the TIM.

It happens man, dont sweat it. Enjoy the fact that you were smart enough to notice the problem prior to real damage. :)

Well you aren't the first one, there have been quite a few people who have made this mistake recently.

I remember when I first got a E8400 and I was just sitting there on the computer, decided to glance over and look through the case window, then PLOP! The cooler just falls right off. I used my own thermal paste on an Intel stock cooler but forgot to push the push-pins in. The paste kept it glued for a while, until it got hot of course.

A lot of coolers have backplates, they won't be going anywhere anytime soon and are nice and secure. But man, those pushpins are a bitch to get in. My last mobo was bent from trying to get it on.

I remember putting my first WC loop together on a Q6600. I was all excited, and couldn't wait to start up the rig. I turned it on, and went into the bios only to find the temps at stock were in the mid 60's and rose quickly into the 70's. :eek:I freaked and shut the system down. I went back and inspected everything to find that I never installed TIM.:shadedshu:slap:
