Hello

i have been planing to upgrade my graphics card and got me 2 cards to choose from regarding my limited budget :) so please don't start telling me about high end cards because that will ruin my day :banghead:

NOW here are the cards :

Gigabyte GV-NX85T512HP 512mb GDDR2 (8500gt)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125065

or

ASUS EN8600GT/HTDP 256 GDDR 3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121096

now the confusing thing is the 512mb gddr2 VS 256mb gddr3

i play all kind of games . Bf2 / Coh / Oblivion / COD4 ... so would be wise to sacrifice memory for speed ? or the opposite , and the 8600gt got a fan while the 8500gt is silent :ohwell:

8600 for sure. First of all, the 8600 is far superior to the 8500, it has better memory (GDDR3) and the size of the memory 256 or 512...well the 512 is slower and won't deliver any performance boost at all and it seems that 512, even if it was GDDR3 it wouldn't deliver more performance on these 2 cards. So go for the 8600GT. :)

ah sounds good ^^ thx for the advice

okay i was worried about the memory size since better Textures will require more gpu memory but i think gddr 3 can hold its ground for current games and since i happily play games with the 1024x768 resolution :D

lets see what other people think and here is one more thing what about if the 512mb ddr2 card is a 8600gt aswell would that beat the new GDDR3.

peace

the 8600GT GPU is 2x faster than the 8500GT GPU. But both are not offering a good performance/price ratio. Tell us your budget limit and we'll recommend you the best bang for the buck according to your budget.

Save up for a HD 3850 or something.. the 8600GT is not really a gamer card.

yeah the 8600gt got a fan so i think it will handle OC better than the 8500gt.

Well i live in morocco and the cards are a bit much expensive than the US for example cuz of all the taxes and stuff . anyway the 8500gt is priced for like 100 Euros while the 8600gt is like 130 Euros and my budget is like 150 Euros since i already bought a new Mobo and some ram :p and im in this moroccan online shop there few cards that are withing my budget range like the Gigabyte GV NX86T512H (8600gt 512mb but ddr2) and the Sapphire RADEON HD 2900GT (256mb gddr3)

notice im only talking about DX10 cards since i wont be changing my card for sometime regarding im still a student with no income

but as gOJDO mentioned you can guide me if there is some better cards in this price range that i need to know about .

sure but i forgot to mention its in french but that wouldn't be a problem since u can just browse the list and even use a price limit filter .

but I'm not limited to that store since i live close to Spain and i can manage to buy me a card from there .

and also the site uses local currency which is Dirhams . 1euros = 10 DH

i bet that was confusing but well do it on your own risk just kidding

there are 2 links so check them both :

Well, if you have somebody in US to send you a graphics card, you'll get something much faster for 150eur (~$220). It will cost you around $30 for shipping and around $170 for a 9600GT.

I live in Macedonia, but I wish I was living in the hot Morocco :D. Here we have expensive hardware too but I am buying stuff at dealer's price. For 170euros (inc. VAT) I can get you a 8800GT.
