http://www.svc.com/gh-udup21-vc.html get that one... i have the same card and mine idles around 30c with this cooler. heres a pic of my card with the cooler on it
I have had a bad experience with the VF900cu, I put one on my X1950Xt and the temps got to 94C, and then my X1950XT died.
I REALLY dont think I would be abled to overclock my 3850 with a VF900.
thanks scrizz, but I cant find it at newegg. whats another good online store to get it at and not get ripped off?
Those are great, and nice and cheap. Didn't see any at Newegg, but look around. They perform very good, are quiet, and come with plenty of heatsinks.
You were doin it wrong then
dammit you guys! you got me stuck on deciding!
No, I reaplied the thermalpaste like 3 times and got the same temps everytime. I was using AS5 and used less than a grain of rice to cover the whole core and it had perfect contact.
want a link to the thread here on TPU?
Indeed. I had a vf-900 on my 9600GT and it idled at 32C. She was frosty cold.....
your right... only 2 pipes touch... pic from Xbit labs
Is it possible that the heat pipes didnt have any liquid in them then? And I got a borked one?
The surface could have been not flat. I'm telling you a VF900 would fit perfectly and cool it well. Not EVERY SINGLE VF900 comes with defects.
I would get one from these guys
They have some cool colored ones as well.(and ramsinks)
one question then, would the VF900 not be good enough to cool a X1950XT? Other users said that it wasn't.
My guess is it came with an uneven surface or something silly like that.
The surfice was flat, I held it to my razor knife.
I think it would cool a 1950xt very well.I have had my 3850 benching at 837core with my vf900 on it.
Heres a link i did with one of my 4850 and the VF900
he wouldnt need the fans added on - my S1 idled my GT @ 35 degress C all day long.
^^^^^ like I said. GET THAT ONE
My Akasa Vortexx NEO is brilliant too - not as good as an S1, about 5 degrees warmer on idle, but worth every penny and a few more degrees for the lower profile and lovely blue LED's.
the S1 is a good choice too
here ya go http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106112
I know: i remember.
29c nice, my 3850 idles at 40c with a Zalman GV1000, but ambient temp is around 30c (tropical country)
