Check out my info! I always play games on pretty decent settings and for some reason it's still laggy sometimes I got 4gz of ram is their anything here indicating that I need to change something up or something??

idk but it be nice if I could improve my gaming performance.

I have very few programs my computer runs very fast and smooth most of the time but when playing some newer games it doesn't feel right it feels kinda laggy and not sure if u guys have played WoW but that game runs almost perfect without the shadows of course but anyway is the video card the problem or my processor? I bought the card a year ago.. thinking it was pretty good but idk

Since you didn't mention the game(s) you are having trouble with I'm just going to assume that you are bottlenecked by your CPU.

The GTS 450 isn't that great, but it isn't that bad either.

If you use the task manager to monitor CPU usage and GPU-Z to monitor GPU usage while you game you can confirm whether the CPU is your bottleneck.

You have a lower end video card n the Cpu is getting long in the tooth. Either oc the cpu or get a better video card. You could add 2 more gigs of ram less the slots are maxed

CPU maxed, GPU maxed, that's why it's lagging. You've reach the maximum level of performance your computer is capable of

Well Star wars the old republic online laggs mostly when outside but you can definetly feel like it could be smoother.

World of Warcraft plays really smooth in my computer without any problems high settings too..

Lineage 11 laggs allot for some reason..

Pretty much. I'm willing to bet the games that are lagging are games that use two or more processing threads. Your dual-core is what's hurting you the most. Add the fact that the GTS450 is a older mid-level performance card.

I think getting a quad-core CPU would be a better upgrade. For the graphic card you can always lower the resolution and disable graphical effects to get better performance.

I don't think so. I'm thinking your CPU being a dual core is the main thing causing your problems. A new video card would only help you if your CPU isn't max'ed out. You'd be better off buying a AMD PhenomII cpu and motherboard with that $200. Give me a minute and I'll get you some suggestions for a CPU and mobo.

the numbers went up by allot from what it was before overclocking it AND so far it's smoother.

That's great your able to smooth out your problems with OC'ing. So your GFX card was holding back your systems performance. But that doesn't change the fact your CPU is max'ed out. If you do decide to upgrade something, upgrade your dual core before upgrading your video card. Your CPU will bottleneck any video card worth upgrading from a GTS450 to.

Now odly im having problems with my old games rig that is runuing a nvida gts 450 things like borderlands unreal and duke nukem all blue screen the pc for the life of me i cant find the ushue day to day use its fine just when i try to run games it falls flat on its face any ides gents ?

You check the temperature of your GTS450 while gaming? My first guess would be your video card is overheating

Yeh it was one of the 1st things i cheked its well within normal temps it works like a charm for 99% of the time just under gameing and even them only certain games halo for instance works fine but borderlands will crash the system every time even photo shop works fine im honestly at a loss as to what the ishue could be ill be replacing the card later this month see if that changes the situation faling that ill just have to build an i5 for my partner to play borderlands on

If your on a budget then a AMD 870G and Phenom II 830 would be perfect for you to upgrade to.

thanks for the thorght ive been looking at i5 based systems as i prefer the intel based systems that and the nvida 550ti as the graphics card the rest is still open save wanting gigabit mainboard.

If you can afford a I5-2300 and H61 motherboard then that would be the best choice over AMD
