Help OCing my Asus gtx 670 DC2

Hey there , just received my Asus GTX 670 DC2 , i am a total noob when it comes down to OC , so how hard is it? ^^ I want to overclock it to match the Top version clocks or at least 1050 Any help appreciated

as easy as moving some sliders (use you mouse).
First download msi afterburner or that thing from evga install it and do it! (the oc you mentioned)... that simple.
edit: evga precision is its name.
Even your asus card should have some proprietary oc software on the cd or their site, your choice.
If you have any other Q. fell free to ask them.

Would that pose a greater danger to the card? What about the voltage? Is it automatically adjusted or ?

Not at all if the card become unstable it will just reset itself to factory speeds ... even a monkey can do it these days so have a little faith.
the Oc you mentioned should be no problem at all for that particular card.
If i remember right you cant adjust the voltage anymore on the kepler cards so you dont have to worry about that just oc as much as stock volage lests you and then test for stability in games or something graphically intensive.

Okay, so with Kepler theres somethings that most people seem to fail to understand. Basically these cards overclock themselves assuming temperatures are good, and reach what is called their Max boost clock. Before you start clocking. Have afterburner or Evgas Precision X up in the background. Play a game for a while, and then go and check Afterburner to see waht clock its running at. I can almost gaurentee you its already running at 1050 underload even if the specs say its suppose to be ablike 975 boost or whatever. My 680 is rated to have a boost of 1168 but it actually goes all the way to 1188 without tweaks when gaming. My cousins GTX670 FTW card is rated for reference stock gtx680 boost clock of 1058, but his actually boosts all the way to 1225 by itself. So just check what its running at in game. I think you might be surprised that its already running 1050mhz or higher underload.

Also on any kepler card voltage is done automatically itll go under below 1000mV and go all the way to 1175mV under maximum load.

The lowest boost max clock on a 670 i saw was 1080mhz + so yeah its already runing at that speed but also the oc version that has official clocks 1050 its running even higher so its capable to do more.

Just an update , my card boosts by itself up to 1084 with no OC from my part not having bought the OC version!

Again, its not because you didn't buy the overclock version. Kepler will clock higher then specs on its own regardless of the card. Itll get all the way up to the highest max boost clock before you need to adjust the sliders. And if you want the max boost clock to be higher, then move those sliders.

Ok i did some OC'ing up to 1180 and+100 on memory it's pretty stable , no artifacting or anything , temps at 69-70! Should i push it a wee bit more? Is there headroom for more OC with these temps?

yes you should.

If it's hitting 70C then I wouldn't go any further. Kepler cards start to throttle at 70C so unless you can manage to keep it under 70C then that should be your limit.

I would suggest you set up a custom fan profile or try to get better airflow through your case.

You need to play with your fan profile to keep your temps down and then you can OC a little further. The stock fan profile with the DCII cooler is very conservative, so a more aggressive profile does wonders. My 670 DCII boosts around 1254-1267MHz with 1.212v and never hits 70C. With Kepler you want to keep your temps below 70C so it doesn't throttle, so your fan speed should be 100% at 70C.

Edit :The fact that i live in Greece directly affects my OC capabilities , our climate is not middle-european , it's leaning more on the Australian , so we've got higher temps both during the summer and during the winter , that's why i'd like some help to set up a good aggressive fan profile !

Without overclocking chances are you'll never reach anywhere near 70C. Most of the temperature increases come from the increased TDP (power limit/target) required for higher overclocking so leaving it at 100% will keep those temperatures at a minimum. These cards have a maximum operating temperature somewhere in the 90s I believe so even though Kepler cards throttle at 70C, it is a perfectly safe temperature to be at while gaming.
