The common denominator - If the chip came up bad in every board you tried it in it's obviously the chip since the symptom(s) followed it from board to board.
However don't toss it if you haven't already, I'd think it should still be under warranty - I'd contact AMD and see what they could do about it.

Unless you didn't buy it new you should have a receipt or something to show to verify you were the original owner, that would help your case for an RMA or refund.

If they decide to just bump you up to a Ryzen I'd jump all over that and be done with it.

But How do you explain it booting up fine on a Asrock 970a G/3.1 board with the 9590?

I got another problem now whenever I try to use my Lepa Aquachanger 120 on the fx 8350 I just got I get the exact same error but when I use the wraith cooler that came with my 8350 it boots up fine, so I wonder if it was my clc water cooler the whole time cause I never tried a air cooler or another water cooler for my 9590

How much oc would I get on the wraith cooler for the 8350?

Almost none.
You'll be lucky if it doesn't throttle at stock. You could probably get away with 4.2 on all cores.

Free Ryzen upgrade won't happen. Too big a price difference. If anything they will offer a cash or store credit settlement.
With 6 recorded previous RMA's, they are just going to send you on your way.........................to another manufacturer. :D
You already cost them too much.

I only have 2 recorded previous rma's cause I never sent them my first 2 cfv-z's and I never sent them my sobo r3.0 either cause that's what I'm using now. I returned or sold the first 2 cfv-z's I purchased.

Almost none.

I'm going to try to get a kraken x62 here soon if I end up having to oc my 8350. I just hope I don't get the same cpu led error again when I get the kraken x62 and try to use it on my 8350

You don't need water, I'm on a Scythe Ashura at 5.0GHz.

I don't know about it because I got my 8350 before they were boxed with wraith coolers, mine came with the pre wraith stock cooler, which I wasn't going to run anyway. I believe you would get 4.3-4.5 out of the wraith but the fan maybe rotating too fast and noise would be a bother to you. I studied performance level and space consumption of my cooler, it handles 5.0 ok and doesn't block the ram. Bear in mind though every chip overclocks differently, mine is decent for 5.0 on Air, after 5.0 it needs water. Mr.Scott knows about the 8000 FX chips.

You just answered the question yourself.
Could be you had the mounting pressure wrong, probrably too tight and that caused the PCB to warp just enough for a few pins to lose contact. The amount of pressure needed isn't much past the block being "Snug" related to the screws that you use to mount it. Get those snugged equally around the block and that's really all it needs. I'm not familiar with that setup, if it has mounting studs as part of how it installs those can be tight, just don't go crazy there.
It's about what's actually holding the block down itself related to being "Snug".

As for air cooling with the wraith you'll probrably get 4.4-4.5 under load max and that's about it with the 8350 that I'd expect.

I even made the mistake of board warp when i initially put the cooler on, i backed it off before ever powering up to verify warp was gone, No problems.

Done the same with my 3770K to the point I actually bent a pin making it lose dual channel. Had to nudge it back over to fix and sometimes it just woudn't work period until I figured that out. Now I just snug the block to it and it works fine everytime.

Or it could be bad clc water cooler which sucks.

None of my pins were bent and since the 8350 is brand new and I got the same error with my clc water cooler. So I think it might be a bad clc water cooler and I already requested rma from lepa. So I'll see what happens after I get a replacement from lepa.

If you have a bent pin with an AM3+ you won't get it into the socket to even try it - What we were talking about refers to the LGA setup an Intel uses, BTW Ryzen based chips use it too (LGA).

Your cooler itself has no bearing electrically whether it boots or not, only way that could be is if the mounting pressure is off, either too tight or loose. If the cooler doesn't work the chip itself will work and then overheat, triggering a thermal shutdown or even a meltdown but it will boot at least.

EDIT:
Had to check and I was right, the board you have is the same as mine and it has a waterpump power connector at the top of the board. There are three power headers in this location and the waterpump header is the one to the right of the three.
If the pump isn't working that COULD trigger a no-boot condition but the board itself would cause it.

It would sense the pump's power connector being hooked up but not getting a reading from the pump, that making the board go into "Protect Mode" and not allow the CPU to boot. The only thing in common electrically between the CPU and pump is the board itself.
If you are using this power header with your cooling system and the pump isn't working then yes, it's probrably going into protect mode to save the CPU from burning up..... As it's supposed to. If not then the only other plausible explanation would be the mounting of the block isn't right for some reason and that's physical, not electrical related between the two pieces.

So I guess I could have put it too tight then. How do I tell if it's too tight? But I thought the 9590 required the cooler to be as tight as it can be.

No, 9370/9590 are ultra leaky 8350/8370s. Never overtighten a cpu cooler. To determine it's right would require the board to be pulled out of most cases so you can see the upper motherboard edge.

I thought ryzen was lga

It is not

Thanks for getting me straight on that. :toast:
Was thinking they were both LGA, that just proves I don't have one here myself but one day....... :D

EDIT:
You'd only need to have enough pressure to ensure adequate contact between the CPU's lid and the cooler's base - What I said before is it..... Snug it down, don't actually torque it in place and that should do it.

What's interesting is Skt G34 and I believe C32 and Skt1207 (FX DP) are LGA, those were server parts. TR4 is the first consumer Level LGA for AMD

Too much flip-flopping between socket styles for me.

I gave further clarification lol

Yeah Skt F(FX DP 1207), Skt C32 and G34 are all LGA

Take your board out of case and look at the top edge, that is the easiest way to verify.

Well I don't think I'll need to oc at all. I think I'll be upgrading to ryzen 2.0 before I have to oc the 8350.

I'm using my computer to mine btc through NiceHash via my 1060 6Gb video card and not playing any games right now until some other good ones come out. So my cpu isn't really being used right now.

Well then don't, the OC really isn't needed for it, so just leave it stock, it's just for a record is all, someone who knows how to overclock would take it. I have one already so I don't need it.

So there's your answer.

Bye bye
