I made the dumb mistake a couple of years back of attempting to flash my sapphire pulse Rx vega 56 to 64 bios. Similar to other posts on here it went horribly and my GPU doesn't show up in device manager anymore and provides me with a black screen. When trying to flash using DOS (and windows) I keep getting "adapter not found". So after exhausting all options here I am. My question is which part is the BIOS chip and what pins do I need to connect?

From the images I attached, I believe that it is "U2" but looking for reassurance.

Other info:
Memory: Samsung
GPU doesn't show in GPU-Z,
All drivers were removed long ago using DDU
Currently using integrated graphics but I also have a 1060 3GB I use when not debugging this
Contacted sapphire customer support and they've provided me with the last known bios for my card
I never flashed the second bios but I still don't get any response from it either

From what I remember last after I had flashed to 64 it was working up until I had restarted my computer

Usually U13, but could differ by 1 or 2 from there.
You will have to remove the shroud and cooler and look on the PCB around the chip.
Then read through the following thread.

Ok, I've remove the fans/cooling unit and I found a chip labelled u3. I doubt I'll be able to do the pin short method with this chip on this side. Does this mean spi Flash is only way?

Use a thin cable like this one:

Clipboard01.jpg

Long enough to pull if something goes wrong.

PXL_20210304_025757978.jpg

And then put the heatsink on it.

Don't use the card without a cooler under no circumstances.

Sorry, I am having a hard time imagining this. Do you recommend soldering the wire to the chip? Installing the heat sink on-top of this feels very challenging without the wire moving

Not that hard. Just find a wire in suitable size that is hard, twist it around the pin, and cut the edges with scissors.

Alright I got the wire on. Had to use some small copper wires to hook around the chip. One more question I have is when I boot into dos (or Windows) do I snip the wire before or after force flashing? Ice only found one tutorial on this and just want to make sure I got the right steps

Until flashing is complete, then power off, and remove it.
Still getting "adapter not found". Would I also be able to short the two pins from the other side of the board? I'm unsure whether both wires are properly touching. they are both veeeery small

Short 1 + 8, or 1 + 5.
I'm only repeating what others have said worked for them.

When looking up the chip online I found this pdf document. By the looks of it, pin 8 is direct across the chip from pin 1 (page 5). That is if I have the correct document (maybe someone can verify). Thought I'd share for future viewers. I have a CH341a coming in the mail soon so I've decided to hold off the shorting technique because it's been difficult to wrap the wire around the pins and I just don't feel confident with partially exposed wires floating around on the PCB. I will update more when I receive the programmer.

So after receiving the flasher I've followed all of the steps in this guide but when I open the rom file sent to me by sapphire customer support I receive the error message in the image below. I've gone through with flashing it anyways (as well as one I downloaded from VGA bios collection w same error message) and still am not getting any device detected in device manager. Is there different settings I need to have for this chip than the one on the guide perhaps? This chip is also dual bios so should I have saved the bin file with the switch on both sides?

On CH341A.exe program I am unable to find my chip (BY25D40) other programs I have looked through (NeoProgrammer, AsProgrammer) have Boya listed under manufacturers but I am unable to find my specific chip on them. Wondering if anybody has the drivers/program that has this chip

just use these settings for that chip, it will work.

Hey Jordm, did you make any progress getting your card to work?

I have a 580 which is also giving me adapter error and I tried the 1+8 short method with no success.

I've ordered the CH341A EEPROM Programmer like you, going to take a look at the BIOS chip, just curious if you had any success with it.

Hello guys
I have a video card with error 43, so i flashed a lot of BIOS-es in it.
Some of them were from producer some were not...and a lot of bricks during this process.
Each time i use pin short, i logged in win, reflash with standard BIOS that i know it will boot, then i started over again to flash with another unknown BIOS.
So yes, the 8+1 short method works , for sure ..i tested it

Unfortunately, using the settings that @Final_Fighter provided did not work for me. I suspect there may be more damage to my card than I thought. One thing to note about the programmer is to be gentle with the SOP8 clip because the plastic parts on mine started to break and I had to hold the clip on it while flashing (very tedious).

Good luck
