[HELP]upgrading my pc for pc gaming

WARNING: Its My first time posting....

I just recently upgraded my typical pc for moderate gaming since I would like to play HD games on it....
here is my pc specs:

Mobo:EMX-MCP61P-AVL
Proc:AMD Athlon II 240 x2
Mem:Kingston 2GB 800MHz
HDD:WD Caviar Blue 320GB
Vcard:Sapphire Sapphire HD 4770 512mb
Psu:Hec Raptor 500watts
Mon:Samsung T190 19"
Casing:Coolmaster Elite Black 430

I was able to play high settings w/ 1440x900 resolution with games such as:

Devil May cry 4
Resident evil 5
Assassin's Creed 1 & 2
Darksiders
COD:modern warfare 1 and 2 (need to lower down the resolution and set graphics to medium to remove the stuttering

But after playing the COD:Black OPS I would have Stuttering frames on all battle scenes more over on the vietnam level on any graphical settings even on optimal settings
I notice that every time I go on battle scene my CPU usage bumped to 100% I even remove my antivirus, reformated my harddrive and shift from 32 to 64 bit windows 7.I even upgraded My video card from hd 4770 to hd 5850 there seems to be no improvement on the game but a small improvement on using AA on the game.

Im planing to play Crysis 2 on my PC but before playing it I would like to seek advice on what other upgrade is necessary to improve my gaming expierience. I really think that my vid card was bottleneck by the CPU and the RAM. I'll try to add another 2gb on my RAM and see how it works..

BTW Im just a moderate GAMER so Im not planning on OC'ing my RIG... tnx

It's almost certainly a RAM issue. COD Black ops never ran well for me on a PC with 2GB of RAM. Get another matched pair and you should be fine.

Though looking at the minimum requirements it appears they recommend at least an X3. Though I would try the extra ram first.

Though if you really wanted a decent upgrade grab yourself and phenom II X4 or X6.

tnx headshot119. I was actually concern that it my be my CPU since I only have a dual core CPU. It shows on some websites that COD:black ops recommends phenom x3 CPU of for smooth gaming.. But tnx for the advice

I'd recommend getting yourself another matched pair of RAM sticks. And a 3.5Ghz X4 or the 3.2Ghz X6. Don't waste money on the 3.3Ghz X6. My 3.2 is happily running at 3.7 with a simple overclock.

RAM is probably your bottleneck here, though your videocard and CPU aren't top-notch either. If you want to use this computer mainly for gaming, you won't see a big difference going from a quad-core to a hexa-core, but you would see a sizable difference going from a dual-core to a quad-core. I reccomend going with the quad, you can get a Phenom II X4 for about $100. Adding at least 2 GB of RAM is definitely necessary, and RAM is dirt-cheap, so that shouldn't run you more than $25.

ram upgrade is absolutely a must here,,,and quad core will give a healthy boost, ,,im obsessed with black ops right now and my system handles it just fine,, especially with gpu bumped to 1000mhz ;)

If the stuttering problem only happens in COD games, then keep reading.

I played COD4 MW, COD5, COD MW2, COD BO. and they all stutter at some point, in some levels. BUT ONLY IN THE SINGLE PLAYER MODE, not in multiplayer. When i played COD4 MW, i upgraded my cpu from a Pentium D, to a C@D e8400, and then to a C2Q q9550, the ram, from 2 to 8 gb, and the GPU, from 8800GTS, to a HD4870, and then to a HD5850 (i didn't upgrade just because of COD:laugh:).

COD4 MW, and COD BO (the first level specially)are the ones that stutter the most for me. but no matter what i did, or changed in the game GFX settings, or in the Nvidia control panel , or CCC, or what hardware i upgraded, the stutter never dissapeared, i just live with it. Again only in the SP mode, i play everyday COD4 MP perfectly ( i mean graphically perfect, not that i play perfectly:p).

I say this because maybe you think you have to upgrade your cpu, ram or gpu because the game run mediocre, and if the same that happened to me is happening to you it's not going to improve with better hardware.

I hope this helps maybe someone has a better advice.
